Chapter 1

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The crisp morning sun rose above the horizon as a lion rising from the grass of the savannah.

This morning was just like every other. The birds were chirping, blue sky blinding, fresh air whipping the black curtains into the room like a leaf in a wind storm. Papers blew from the desk at the window, skittering across the floor in it's interpretive dance. Her eyes fluttered open, the violet orbs shining as brightly as the waves crashing against the rocks below her open window. She sat up on the side of the bed, a select few blankets falling from her bare legs and onto the floor, pooling in a heap of violet silk.

Making her way next to the window she watched the sight unfold before her. The wind whipping around her bare legs and up her oversized tee shirt. She tugged at the clinging piece of fabric, her stomach knotting uncontrollably. Finally deciding that today was going to be too warm to leave the windows open, she closed them and proceeded to the air conditioning switch where she flipped it to the on position. Raven proceeded back to the corner of her bed to inspect her legs, now throbbing.

She couldn't remember working out yesterday, or doing anything that would warrant their unexplained ability to be causing pain at this moment. She decided that she wasn't even getting her period… which was making the next tender area seem odd. Between both her pelvic bones, the weirdest feeling she'd ever felt raged. It was painful enough to make her knees want to buckle, yet it wasn't really bothering her. What was going on?

The mirror across from her revealed the same image she'd seen every morning. The same tired looking, pale skinned, violet eyed and dark haired woman that stared back until she got up and changed to go downstairs for her morning tea. This morning though, she decided to stay in bed for a little while longer.

She walked back to the head of her bed and pulled the comforter up just enough that she could slide back underneath. The blanket pulled taught as she rolled on top of the corner. She closed her eyes once more, the blackness of the inside of her eyelids staring back at her.

Robin can deal if I sleep in one morning. She thought, lazily yawning and drifting back to sleep.

Her eyes suddenly shot open as an arm reached out and wrapped around her stomach.

"Is it morning already?" the familiar voice asked.

Raven jumped out of bed, away from the body which had been lying next to her.

"Why are you in here? What's going on? Wha--" she yelped.

"You don't remember?" he sat up, still rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

"Remember what?" she gasped, her heart nearly tearing a hole straight through her chest like a jackhammer through pavement.

"Here we go…" he said, sitting up and exposing his bare green chest.
