I was sitting on the couch, watching TV. I knew it was April 1st, and you know what that means. I was prepared for anything Sonic threw at me. Well, almost anything…
"Shaaaaads!" Sonic walked into the room with an unnaturally serious face. "I've been looking for you! I need to tell you something…"
I looked up at him, tilting my head, now curious. "Yeah? What is it?"
"I… we need to break up…" Sonic looked really sad, and stared at the ground. "I don't know if I'm ready for a relationship yet… maybe in a few years, kay?"
Shock coursed through my body. "What? But Sonic… I love you..!"
"Shadow… I love you too. But it would probably be best if we went separate ways for now." He sighed sadly.
"…No! I can't leave you…" Tears threatened to fill my eyes, and I let them. "Sonic, you're the love of my life…"
He suddenly smiled brightly and threw his arms around me in a hug. "April Fools! I got you good, Shads!"
"That wasn't funny…" I was still trembling as I gladly hugged back, glad to keep my beloved hedgie for now.
"I know. I'm sorry. How about I make dinner tonight?" He didn't pull away from the hug, his warm arms already comforting me from the shock of that awful prank.
I sighed happily and wiped away my tears. "Sounds good." I sniffled and kissed the blue speedster lovingly.
