Okay, you know about the new series „The Legend Of Korra". It somehow inspires me very much so I decided to write a little oneshot. Actually, Bryke said the whole GAang generation would be dead by Korra's lifetime, but in this story, Katara's still alive.
They also said they love cheesy teen-romance... By the way, in my story, Meelo is Korra's and Tenzin's friend and helping them in Republic City. He's as old as Korra, Tenzin is around his fifties or sixties. In this oneshot, they sit on a rock spur and look out to Republic City.
I do not own „Avatar - The Last Airbender" or „Avatar - The Legend Of Korra". Enjoy! :D
Some People Are Watching
''You always wear your hair as a ponytail" Meelo said.
''Yes." Korra simply answered. She stared out to the city, acting as if she watched smoke clouds running out of the chimneys and climbing up the to sky, and it was very obvious that she wasn't in the mood to talk. Meelo couldn't resist though.
''Your style isn't very girly at all, by the way. Women wear different things."
''And...? Is it s problem?" Korra still didn't look at him. Her voice sounded uninterested, she didn't move. She knew that Meelo knew she wasn't the female type and couldn't fight and bend very well with a dress or so and she also knew he was teasing her - like so often.
Her friend grinned.
''I just recognized."
That was the point Korra could've said something like ''Ah." and ignore him, but instead she turned around.
''Don't you have anything else to think about?"
Meelo chuckled about her obvious source of annoyance.
''Why do you never let your hair loose?" he asked.
She rolled her eyes. ''It's not particularly suitable for bending or practicing, you know" she explained slowly as if he was remarkable stupid.
''But why don't you open your hair tie when you're not practicing? For example, when we hang around like right now?"
The Avatar wondered how he could be interested in a thing like that.
''Meelo, you know that I always could be attacked by someone. You know why we're here in Republic City."
He nodded thoughtfully. The crime in this town had to stop, that was why.
''But in the evening! You even sleep with your hair like that, right?"
''I could be attacked while sleeping."
''Oh, c'mon, Korra! It's not very healthy for your hair. That's not a good excuse."
''Do I need an excuse!" she snapped angrily. Her friend remained quiet for a moment and grinned, then, he said in pure earnest: ''I'd love to see it loose."
Korra stared at him, a blush tinting her cheeks, mood changing from one second to another.
''I've never seen it, Korra, please."
She put up her hand and moved it - slowly - to the back of her head. She grabbed the bond that hold her hair together. None of them said a single word, it was a comfortable silence and at the same time they felt like tied up in knots. They both waited for the other one to show a reaction.
Korra opened her brown hair. It fell down her shoulders and much to Meelo's surprise, it was longer than he had expected. It almost reached her chest.
''It looks beautiful" Meelo whispered. They both looked away, blushing.
Tenzin and his mother Katara watched them and smiled with a slight sadness behind it. They thought the same.
Tenzin was remined of his parents; the former Avatar and his wife, just the other way around. He knew that his mother had always been the beautiful watertribe girl, or better, woman, and his father the Avatar, always joking and having fun.
Katara was reminded of Aang. She smiled sadly. Her beloved, joyful and caring Aang.
She saw something of him and herself in Korra and Meelo.
A pretty waterbender and a fun-loving boy, only that in her story he had been the Avatar, close friends, young, and in love.
