4022 SAVED, NO SURVIVORS
"Saved…" she muttered to herself.
It still didn't make any sense.
The floor of the space-pod rattled and they prepared for landing, strapping themselves to their chairs and clapping down the clasps of their helmets to their spacesuits.
Oh how she hated those suits.
They landed with a large bump and she jumped in her seat. Cursing the Captain she released herself from her chair, making her way down the now open ramp.
The Library was small for a planet, but nobody would object that it was the largest Library in the Universe. How it had come about was a mystery, but she hadn't come to figure that out. No, she had come to figure out where the people were.
4022 people vanished off the face of the world, just disappeared, and she had come to find out why.
They had landed on the roof of a rather large building overlooking more rather large buildings. She looked at the sky. There was no sun, only a translucent moon in the centre of a cloud free sky.
Strange.
Her focus came back to where she was standing when she was given instructions to lead the way into the main building. It was only a building across from them so she happily obliged.
Numerous tubes and tunnels wove their way around each building and she noted that there were, of course, no stray people wondering through them.
Then a flash of blue caught her eye. It was a bit above her, on a platform overlooking everything.
She stopped and craned her neck for a better look.
He was leaning over the barrier, screw driver in hand, checking for signs of life. No doubt he would find nothing; their suits couldn't show on any scanners.
She grinned and motioned for her crew to follow her into the main building doors. They made their way up staircases and through large rooms filled with nothing but wooden cases and millions upon millions of books.
She loved books. She had written one of her own. It was a blue book, with all sorts of adventures in it.
Her pace quickened, eager to see what mischief her glorious Doctor had gotten himself into this time.
She reached a door that seemed to be locked. She rammed her shoulder against it thrice and when it opened she gave a grin she knew he couldn't see.
His face was different, but she knew it well. He'd given her a photo of this regeneration once, just to make sure.
Her smile slipped. This was a past regeneration. Was today the day?
She forced the thought from her mind and stepped into the room with her crew.
A lady stood beside The Doctor, flaming red hair.
What is with him and gingers?
She looked terrified, lingered behind him as the archaeology crew filed out, giving themselves space.
He was frowning, knowing that they couldn't be much of a threat. She could already see him trying to figure out why her and her crew didn't show up on his scans.
She reached for my helmet and unbuckled it, pulling it off her head.
Her wavy blonde hair fell around her face.
She gave him a grin and muttered the two words that would change his life.
"Hello, sweetie."
