Clark watched as Lex exited the barn. He watched as he walked to the door, he watched as his tall slender black clad figure disappeared from sight, he watched as he heard the unmistakable sounds of a sports car engine starting and the tires burning their way down the driveway to the road. 'I just lied to Lex.' He thought sadly. This lie was different. He was always able to cover up his abilities by telling Lex he was seeing things, or it was the concussion talking, and there were always the lucky days where someone would accidentally take his powers or he went blind, thus convincing Lex that he was truly human. Even if it was only for a day. This time it was different, Lex knew what he had done. He knew Clark stole his car and returned it later on. But that wasn't what was bothering Lex, he knew that. If Lex was bothered by the fact that Clark took the car he would have said it, besides Lex never left the keys there, he told him once. "I keep them in the garage so my mechanic can access the cars easily for maintenance."

"But don't you worry that one day, well you know?"

"Trust me Clark, no one on my staff would be dumb enough to steal from a Luthor."

No he knew what was bothering Lex. Clark had chosen Pete over Lex and then lied to him about it. He took it upon himself to use Lex's wealth and power to aide someone after Lex had explicitly said no. Lex had once told Clark that he was the only real friend he had ever had and now he had done the unspeakable to him.

Clark shook his head in anger and disappointment at himself. Maybe Lex didn't lend Clark the money for a reason. Now they'd never know. And Clark had a feeling that things would never be the same between them.
