DESTINY:
She gazed down at the pair of them, a soft yet heartbroken smile crossed her face as she heard their playful laughter echoing through the trees.
Mary Winchester sighed as she looked at her precious sons, 4 year old Dean was eagerly trying to teach 5 month old Sam how to crawl and Sam was giggling uncontrollably, blinking his big dewy eyes at his brother which even John couldn't resist.
Dean had a proud look on his face as he watched Sam make his way slowly but sturdily to him.
The very moment Dean had laid eyes on Sam, Mary knew that he adored him.
There was a bond there, much stronger than anything she had ever seen.
No matter what happened, she was sure that Dean would take care if Sam and that was exactly what she was hoping for.
Her mind travelled back to the turning point in her life. 10 years ago. The day she made a deal that would forever change her life. Her choice to save the one she loved, even if it came at a great cost.
At that very moment she had not seen anything or anyone else except for her beloved John lying in her arms, broken. Her parents were dead and she had nothing left. She had looked into those fiery yellow eyes and made her decision. Now 10 years later she came to realize what her decision had done to her family. She thought about the young hunter who had told her not to get out of bed on November 2nd of this year. The exact date her 10 years ran out. The exact date she would be out of time. She knew it wasn't a coincidence.
She wasn't called a hunter for nothing. After all these years of searching she finally knew what the demon had wanted. He wanted her baby boy, her Sammy and she would be dammed if she let him go without a fight.
She was pretty sure she wouldn't survive the final showdown with the demon and she was also pretty sure that her boys would come out of it safe and sound. John wouldn't let anything happen to her boys. After all he knew. He knew just about everything and you know what made her love him even more? 'He didn't care.'
And he also promised that they would get through it together. She guessed being an ex-marine had it benefits when you're learning defence against the supernatural. He was a natural.
So she was fairly confident that after she was gone her boys would be safe.
But she still couldn't get rid of that sinking feeling in her chest every time those words echoed in her mind 'after she was gone' she still hadn't told John about the deal she made. She didn't want to burden him because he had already been through too much. She didn't want to put him through too much and anyways it was far too late to do something to save her and she knew that John would make it his obsession and would blame himself when she would die at the hands of the yellow-eyed demon. It would destroy him and in a way he would die too. She wouldn't let her boys be raised by a half-dead father and without a mother. She would prevent that from happening, she would die for her family and according to her that is the best way to go. For them
She had already decided that she would die, but she would die fighting.
It was her destiny.
For them, all for them.
