The tall British man leaned against the sofa, a rather thick looking book in his hands. Scanning the cluster of words in each page, he sighed before putting the book down. "Why is my life so hard?" he whined, staring up at the ceiling. Dan had regretted choosing to study law just to get a good job that earns him cash. What he needed right now was to get his mind off studying. The Brit then picked up his iPhone, wanting to call his best friend to come over.

'The number you're dialing is unavailable. Please try again later.' the sentence that Dan dreaded repeated as he redialled multiple times, trying to contact Phil. He sighed yet again, placing his phone into his jean pocket before getting up, heading towards the kitchen. "Time to cook by myself then," he muttered to himself. Opening the kitchen cupboard, he was about to get out the ramen when he felt a vibration in his pocket. Thinking that it was Phil, Dan excitedly reached out for his phone, pressing the answer button. 'Hey, Phil! Want to come ov—' he was interrupted by the gruff voice over on the other end. "Sorry, this isn't Phil. Are you Dan?" the man questioned. "…Yeah, I am… and you are?" he asked. The Brit could hear his heart beating rapidly in his chest as multiple questions ran through his mind. Who was this man? What happened to Phil. His questions were immediately answered, though. "He met with an accident and he wanted me to call you, to say farewell." Dan's eyes widened as he slid down the kitchen counter. "O-oh… Thank you…" he muttered before hanging up, placing the smartphone onto the cold marble floor. Tears welled up in his eyes and trickled down his face as he hugged his knees.

"I... didn't even get to say goodbye..." Dan's heart was filled with remorse and regret. He would never see his best friend again; one that stuck with him through the good and bad times; one that was there when he needed comfort. All was left were the videos and photos they had taken together, but all of these would just become a fragment of the Brit's mind.

"It'll be okay," Phil whispered as he sat beside the other Brit, holding his arm comfortingly. Dan smiled slightly, but the slim amount of happiness vanished as the figure faded away.
