As Ash was resting under a tree, after a long-day travel, he heard something ringing. He quickly raced to find the source of the ringing. Eventually, he found a voice recorder buried with grass. Its red LED light was still on, functioning.

"I wonder who may have dropped this." Ash wandered. Then, Ash accidentally pressed the 'play' button, and the recorder played the message recorded.

"Delia, are you there?" A mysterious but familiar voice was heard, and struck Ash.

"Delia?" Ash sparked in curiosity "Isn't that my mother's name?"

"Please hear this call, as this maybe my last words to you. I'm sorry that I broke your promised for nothing coming back. I'm in the middle of something dangerous." The recorded message continued to play.

Then, Ash remarked in resolution after hearing and getting familiar of the voice, "This is my dad's." This made him remind of the last time he heard his father's voice, ever since he was an infant.

"Listen, I just want to say I love you with all my heart, even though you may not see it. Because I have done everything just to show my love for you. It's best if you realize it by yourself. Please handle everything in the household, especially for our son. "

As the message was being played, Ash knew for an instance that the message was meant for him. As he realized that, he began to shed in tears.

"For I know, he will have dreams and potentials the same as mine. Please guide him along the way. Please tell my son to persevere everything in life, whether if it is in his challenges, career, relationships, paths, and importantly himself. Tell him that life is an endless Pokémon journey; you have got to keep moving forward. "

Ash was moved by his father's words of wisdom. Because of that, he continued to shed in tears, and eventually fell upon his knees. It was not because his father left him, or he was not able get a full glance of his father. It was because his words played the most important role in his life, and that made Ash the person he is until know.

"Also put into his mind that there are more in life than just being the best Pokémon master. Do not be the best; do the best and make the best out of it. Make him do the best out of love for friends, family, Pokémon and self. Tell him you've got to catch them all, son. Catch'em all. Goodbye."

As the recorded message ended, Ash was in full sorrow, regret and remorse. He could not handle the fact that this was the last words of his father, and that will be the last time he will here his father's voice.

"Oh Dad!" Ash lamented with grief inside of him, which became heavy for him. As Ash continued to mourn, he glanced on the sky, reminding of one event in his childhood when his father left him.

On the day he left, he was called quickly by the authorities to assist him on mission because he was the best choice, as being a Pokémon master. He then quickly said his farewells to Ash and his mother, Delia, and flew towards the sky with a Pidgeot. He then gave Ash a quick salute as he watched him from the window. This hinted the infant Ash that his father will come back for him.

After so much sorrow and enlightenment, he tearfully then proudly responded from his reflection, "You may have broken your promise to me dad, but I will never break my promise to you. I'll do every word you say, for I was born to be the very best, choose the very best, and be the very best. I'll do it for you, dad. And I know will meet again."
