The Doctor gulped as he pulled out the psychic paper and unfolded it from within the fold out wallet. As of late he'd been getting messages from River on it, ones that he was hesitant to read outside of his room. Amy and Rory were beginning to question why one look at the paper often sent him running up the stairs to disappear for an hour or so. He could never give them a straight answer, even if he tried. So he just passed it off as talking to an old friend (more than a friend, he thought giddily) and ignored the stern looks that Amy threw him. The notes made him feel both apprehensive and excited, as if he was skydiving. He often giggled like a schoolgirl at the things River wrote, because they were just so scandalous. If he ever heard them aloud he would probably turn the color of a tomato. His cheeks might even spontaneously combust if he readit aloud. He was always very jumpy whenever he felt the psychic paper in his wallet resonate, which was what really caught Amy's eye. There was only a few things that ever made the Doctor jumpy; his behaviour may have been erratic, but still not skittish. He made a concentrated effort to keep himself contained, but eventually he had to run back to his own bedroom to read the notes. It was always a relief to be able to slide down against his door and begin reading. A shudder passed through him as the letter progressed, and his breathing became ragged. River was good. Astoundingly so, in his opinion. Maybe it was the fact that she spent all her time in this regeneration in the 51st century. It seemed that by the 51st century, sex was not such a hushed subject as it was in the 21st. Or 31st, for that matter. Well, he guessed that the 51st century would be farther progressed than previous centuries in the eyes of the restricted-to-linear-time person.

The part of his brain that was occupied by the errant-not-about-River-naked thoughts suddenly shorted when he read the next sentence of the letter. It was if all the electrical impulses in the rational part of his brain just stopped. He could practically hear himself fizzling out. Had she really written that?! A subtle groan escaped his lips as his head made a solid thunk! against his door. The things that woman did to him...
