Parting Ways
"You and I will be parting ways soon." Light looked at the detective with soft eyes as he the sound of the pouring rain from outside surrounded him. 'What is talking about? Does Ryuuzaki-? Do you know?' L's phone rang and he reached in his pocket to answer it," Yes thank you Watari. No, that'll be all thank you." The detective turned to face Light and gave a faint smile," Come on Light, it seems everything has worked out." 'Worked out? L, what do you mean? Did you plan something?' Light stood up to follow the older man, 'Why are we doing this to each other? We're so damn competitive that we are ruining not only ourselves but something special. From the moment we laid eyes on each other L we knew that we were meant to be. Dammit, if I could turn back time I would. I don't think I can handle seeing you die. I don't think I can handle…me.'
Light tugged on L's sleeve and stared into his dark onyx like orbs, "L, Do you see what I see? Have you felt what I've felt in the short time that we've known each other?" L stopped in his tracks and gave a genuine smile that sent chills down Light's spine," I do and I have, Light Yagami Kun." Light felt his heart crack under anguish and despair, he felt helpless towards the 'real God' of the world and his/her ways. "I'm sorry…"he whispered. L shook his head like a two year old and covered Light's lips with his bony finger. "Don't apologize Yagami kun. If you apologize you lose. It was meant to end one way or another. That's how the battle between Kira and L the detective was suppose to be. The relationship between us was just a bonus that we threw in Raito Chan; everything that begins must end, you know that. "L brushed a hair from Light's cheek and placed a light kiss on the young man's forehead. " I don't regret any of the decisions I've made, Light."
Light could feel his eyes begin to water and pulled the older man into an unforgettable kiss. "I'm so sorry…."he croaked. For a moment all L could see in those hazel eyes was honesty and compassion and…love. The tears falling from those hazel eyes did not belong to Kira, they belonged to Light and Light was giving them to L. L didn't look into those eyes, instead he stared at the ground. L couldn't bring himself to be mad at Light Yagami; it wouldn't have been right. They both caused each other's destruction, corruption even. It was unavoidable. They were bound to be together, they we bound to clash. Light would forever be L's prisoner as would L to Light regardless if the emotions they felt for one another was love, hate or lust. It would've been that way no matter who left the earth first.
L's phone rang once again and he opened the door to the next room," They're waiting for our arrival Yagami Kun. It's rude to keep people waiting."
