It was half-six of a Tuesday evening. The serene atmosphere that usually engulfed the foggy docking area was being disrupted completely. A cacophony of frantic screams and raucous laughter echoed the empty pier as a band of would-be burglars were running for their lives.

The savage barking and gnashing of teeth of a pack of guard dogs followed them in hot pursuit. The young, five-strong group were pounding the boardwalk ducking and weaving between shipping containers. The smallest of the group started to fall behind as the others charged ahead. He began to lose sight of them "Hey fellas wait…" by the time he got to "up" they'd disappeared into the alleyways.

Eddie was alone, but at least he'd outrun the guard dogs. He took a look at his surroundings- an abandoned shipyard dimly lit by one oil lamppost. A thin layer of smoke hung in the air. He sniffed at it "Odd" he quipped "Smells like tobacco"

"Well lookie what we got here" taunted a dry voice. Nervously the youth stopped dead in his tracks "Fuck!!!" thought Eddie, the jig was most definitely up. A large hand quickly followed the voice from the shadows and before he knew it Eddie Gunman was being lifted by the neck. As he rose he struggled for breath in an attempt to call out for help, but he knew it was hopeless. His partners-in-crime were probably halfway to Jersey by now, and the blame for the break-in was all laid on him. Once again he was irrevocably and unquestionably screwed.

Eddie began to writhe and wrestle attempting to break the hold of his captor. Within seconds he realised the futility of his efforts and resolved to finally get a good look at the man who would soon be putting an end to his short and miserable life. Eddie raised his gaze and immediately regretted it, his heart began racing. "It can't be him, no, not him. He's just a myth, some made up story everybody tells their kids to keep them inside after dark." He took a second look just to be sure. He REALLY wished he hadn't looked because now he was staring into the lamp-lit eyes of an eight foot nightmare known as the Man-eater, and he couldn't look away.

Eddie Gunman had a really bad knack for being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
