Very heavily inspired by the king's avatar manga, not sure if there is an anime for it but took some inspiration for the premise and maybe some systems in the game. I'll try my best to not make the exposition in this story too boring.
Thanks for reading!
People... Are not born equal. I found that out at age four, but that was my first, and last set back. It all began in KeiKei city in China when a developer, by the name of Glory Games, who has a monopoly on the gaming industry released a game that broke all the standards with gaming, a fantasy, RPG by the name of Xiron online, mostly just referred to as Xiron.
This game did many things that made it incredibly fun and popular, but one was the fact that it somehow converted all the actions performed in the game into energy to be used by people to replace electricity. So, obviously, the government got involved and the world decided that all energy generated would be sent to processing plants around the world and sent to all countries evenly.
But, the main catch to this game was that 50% of the profits made by any player were sent to the player's bank account, so, players joined in droves and the game became massively popular. There was one other thing about this game was that that the developers made a special type of acid that interacts with a person's skin and forges a barcode into it a person's skin and then that barcode is used to designate a character's speciality.
So if you were found to have a fire magic speciality then anything related to fire magic would be gained 10x faster like exp, for example. So when I went to the office to get my character card and nothing happened, I had no speciality and ten the game blew up and I was made fun of because of how far behind I was and I couldn't even catch up.
But now, to celebrate Xiron's and U.A High's 10th anniversary they were releasing a new headset that interpreted your brain waves into moves in the game, Izuku had convinced his mother to allow him access to her emergency funds for him under the pretence; this was a dire emergency that could be the difference of his life's goal to go to U.A.
And so now I was waiting third in the line outside of his local Xiron shop to purchase the headgear, I have been camping for three days now, finally, today was the day and finally, I heard the sound of the shutters of the shop hitting against the side of the metal bars holding them in place. I popped out of my old, dirty brown sleeping bag and saw the overweight employee with glasses standing outside the shop directing the two outside the shop directing the town ahead of me into the shop.
The one at the front of the line was incredibly thin with unkempt, semi-spiky, blonde hair and a horrible posture, his clothes were also far too baggy for him, his clothes being large green cargo shorts, with many pockets and a large white shirt. Behind him was a man with short spiky red hair standing like he had 10 bottles of hair spray on it, that day alone, this man was wearing incredibly tight clothes which were all black and had a fiery design all over them. Long black trousers and a short-sleeved shirt, the man also had a quite long beard which looked like it had the consistency of cement. The man, for some reason, was staring daggers into the man first in the line.
Since the line was so long and the shop was so small they had to let customers in, in groups of threes. Once I was in the shop with the men I watched them go straight to the wall with the new headgear on it, the red-headed man grabbed two, the blonde man grabbed one and I went to the wall once they were both out of the way, not looking to have any form of human interaction.
I turned my head to the cash register and saw the two fully grown men pushing and shoving their way to the cash register which was weird since the redhead was so much more bulkier than the blonde haired man. Eventually, the blonde haired man ducked under a push which the red-haired man had put all his body weight into and got to pay first. To me, this looked like two old friends in a useless competition.
The red-haired man paid and went on his way, I then went to the register and offered my money to the unenthusiastic person operating it. He gave me a strange look and said in a voice completely devoid of all emotion "You know if you connect your Xiron account to your bank accountant via this store you can get up to 50% off?"
I rubbed the back of my head and stared at the ground like it deserved my empathy "Heh Heh. Yea I know... It's just... I... Don't really... Ehh... Have one" I responded quietly, not wanting to be laughed at like all the other times anyone finds out about my situation. The cashier let out a small chuckle and gave me my change. I walked out of the store with my head down and eventually bumped into a street pole, I looked up expecting to see a large metal object but I ended up seeing the person who had been first in line standing in front of me.
"Hey, kid why do you look so down, you just got the brand new way to play Xiron online!" The man half screamed, giving a thumbs up. He then leaned down closer to me and put a hand to the side of his mouth, like one would when telling a secret. "you know, I heard you in the shop and I'm really impressed you waited the same amount of time as me and Enji over there." He pointed to the red-haired man who seemed to be waiting for him. The man handed me a slip of paper and walked away. "if you're joining server 10 I might play with you some time!" He said while walking away and waving
I cocked my head to the side and was confused, I've been playing Xiron for 10 years, since the day of release and I have never heard about a server 10. Ignoring and brushing it off as a mistake I continued on my way home to try out the new gear. Halfway there I was walking through a giant town square and saw a giant screen on the side of a building, I looked up and saw the logo of Xiron flash by.
Hello all you Xiron players out there, ARE YOU READY! for the new update 14,000,000.0 were we will be introducing the ability to not only make money off of actions performed but the ability to exchange in-game rubies for REAL WORLD MONEY! And now the all new servers for UA students are open and anyone can join and meet the future pros and pros that are teaching them.
I was shocked, I had attempted to join U.A months prior, but without a barcode, they assumed that I couldn't become a pro and refused to even attempt to train me. I rushed home even pushing through the pain of being completely out of breath. And burst through the door to my house and straight into my room "don't bother me, mom!"
I got onto the computer, downloading all the needed drivers for the headset and plugging it in, popping it on his head, 'I vow to show every single person associated with U.A that I can be better than them!'
Once I was in I saw the countdown to the launch of server 10 'just in time' I sighed in relief.
