Looking up at the bleak sky, she said, "I realize it's spring, but I don't think I've ever seen it rain this much before."
After zipping up her coat Sara reached over to retrieve her Starbucks coffee from Grissom. They were standing in the late morning drizzle outside the original Starbucks store at Pike Place Sanitary Market in Seattle. Sara had always thought that the derogatory remarks about the weather in Seattle were an exaggeration, but it was cold, gray, and wet.
Sara had needed a break and decided that Seattle was about as far away from the desert as you could get. She'd wanted to go there ever since seeing the movie Sleepless in Seattle. Now, shivering in the overbearing gloominess, she was having fond thoughts of the Las Vegas heat. It would be in the nineties there today.
Still, Seattle was pretty with all it's tall green pine trees. And Grissom was with her. Reaching over, she slid her frozen fingers into his warm hand.
Grissom, as usual was nonplussed by the weather. He just popped the collar of his jacket and hunkered down into it a little more than usual. Sara grinned to herself and snuggled a little closer against his side, he was so sexy - in a retro eighties kind of way.
"Thanks for coming up here with me, Gil." she said as she squeezed his hand. "I just needed to get away from it all for a few days."
"You know I'd go anywhere with you, Sara." Grissom turned to the left and walked towards the fish stalls, guiding Sara through the crowds. Stopping in front of Beecher's Handmade Cheese they stared at the giant vats of steaming milk.
'We're a team now," he said as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder. "Until death do us part."
