It had been innocent enough at the time. Rei had taken Tala shopping with him and the two of them each got cheap costumes knowing that they'd only use them for one night. Then after that, the flimsy clothing would probably be thrown away.
Rei had told Tala of the joys of Trick-or-Treating on Halloween night, and the curious red head became fascinated. Pestering to go with him this year, Bryan caved and let him go out, but not before saying quickly that there was no way he was doing it as well.
Tala was a sort of cross between of a 70's disco dancer and a prom date while Rei looked much like a medieval peasant with a cape to boot. The two grabbed their pillowcases and ran out of the house, leaving a perplexed Kai and Bryan behind.

Tala groaned as another wave of pain wracked through his skull, reminding him of little miners with their pick axes. Or garden gnomes. He shook his head trying to rid himself of thoughts of the evil red-topped demons that made their homes on poor innocent people's front lawns.
Candy wrappers where strewn about the room and crinkled softly as he shifted his weight on the couch. His pillowcase sat on the coffee table in front of him, still bulging at the seems full of brightly decorated candy and suckers.
Tala's eyes felt heavy and lax, as he blinked slowly, rubbing his eyes afterwards to find smeared chocolate on his hand. He groaned once again, but was in to much pain to care.
His stomach seemed to be stretching slowly, pretending it was a balloon almost, and sent pain through his entire body. He felt sick – it was them damn Butterfingers.
He fumbled for the remote and quickly changed the channel as the TV began to rattle off another commercial for a food. Tala almost threw up as he saw an advertisement for jolly ranchers.
Needless to say, he had eaten far to much of the sugary substances before him and was now paying the price. This had turned out to be far heftier than he thought it would be.
Tala vaguely heard footsteps coming towards him as Bryan padded over from their bedroom. "Decided to sleep on the couch did we?"
"Sleep?" Tala croaked with a frown, "You try to sleep after well…" He made a sluggish gesture with his hand at the mess of wrappers at his feet. "well this."
Bryan smirked slightly and chuckled, "I told you that this Halloween was dangerous."
"But Rei --" Tala began trying to protest.
"Rei is at home sick in bed with Kai fussing over him like a mother hen." Bryan said, plopping himself down next to the lamenting red head. He slowly wrapped his arms around the thin waist of Tala and pulled him close.
"I hate Halloween." Tala frowned.
"Well did you have fun running around like a three year old from house to house begging for candy with Rei?" Bryan asked softly, cuddling the red head a little, "And what about dressing up and staying up late? Is it really that bad?"
"Well…" Tala shifted slightly, "I guess not…"
"Good." Bryan smiled content with himself. Then he smirked almost evilly, "Because next year I'm monitoring your sugar intake."

Just a quick after Halloween drabble I came up with. I thought it was damn cute.
