Roseletta POV
Many days pass and the routine never changes. I continue to have jobs where I have to steal a poor innocent soul before the demons and angels get to it. But I always wonder why can we let the humans live? They live in a place with harmony and peace but yet, we have to take that freedom from them. Through death. Its unfair. I feel like everyone should be able to live as long as they want, and the people who don't want to live is the ones we take the souls of. And yet, Grell and the others look at me like I'm cracking up some sort of joke. They say that "Everything dies, that's how it goes." But why does it have to end that way?
I sighed and placed the heavy pile of papers on William's desk exhaustedly. I've been working nonstop. It isn't easy carrying heavy piles of paper up and down a long flight of stairs. And then having to be called countlessly to do more copies of the files. Which involves walking right back upstairs to the copier. I deserve a break and I'm going to do almost anything to convince that cold hearted reaper William to give me it.
William was at his desk trying his best to avoid any eye contact with me. He knew what I wanted, and knew what I was going to say. And figured if he acted like I wasn't there that he might just get away from it. I smiled and leaned close and waved my hand in front of his face. "Hello William darling." I whistled and pouted when he continued to type. I persisted more. This time taking away his glasses. Any regular person would of died for touching his glasses but I knew he wouldn't do a thing to me. Why? Because everyone knows he needs me to get rid of his dirty work.
Finally he stopped typing and I tried my best to not die from laughter of how helpless he looked at the moment. He closed his eyes and sighed. "Yes Roseletta." He said. "May I help you?"
"Oh darling do us both a favor and stop acting clueless. We both know what I want." I smiled devilishly, spinning his glasses around my fingers.
"And let me guess." William sighed. "A break." He eyed me through his ice cold eyes.
"Not only a break, but I want access to the human world." I said and narrowed my eyes. "Alone."
"I think I can't do that."
"And why not?"
"Roseletta you are under a reaper's contract which only gives you permission to enter the human world when it comes to work purposes. Not to have your little fun around the human world." He paused and continued. "Not only that, you must have someone supervise all of your actions. You aren't really the most trustworthy person."
I pouted childishly. "But I'll be good."
"This conversation is over. Please hand over my glasses."
"Your glasses?" I said, honestly ready to blow up any second. "It would be a shame to crush your only source of eye vision. I know how special these glasses are to you." I said, tightening my grip around them. "However you know how special it is for me to be able to go to the human world. How important it is to get some fresh air out of this suffocating realm." William frowned. "Now listen here William, I work my ass off almost every single day of my pathetic life. I have my hands stained with blood and blood to the point I can't even wash them off. I walk up and down those long ass flight of stairs to finish work that these lazy reapers won't do, and I can't even have a BREAK or a chance to look around the human world ALONE without having to listen to one word coming out of my brother's mouth every time." Everyone was looking over at William and I. William looked a bit out of shape, and grumbled.
"Fine, I'll give you 5 minutes."
"5 minutes?" I smiled, as he could hear a crack made through his glasses.
"I mean an hour." William said. "An hour in the human world. Alone. When an hour pass, and you aren't here, I'll personally send Grell to drag your ass here. I expect you to be here and avoid any more drama. Got it." He finally agreed calmly.
"Got it." I gave him a toothy smile, dropping his glasses on his lap.
"Jesus, it seems its the same thing with you almost everyday." William sighed. "Can I now go back to work?"
"Of course." I nodded, almost everyone in the office seemed to look fearful. I'm the only one who basically has the guts to even talk back to William. I left his room and happily transformed into my human clothes. I didn't want to go to the human world with the nasty stench of blood on my clothes.
I finished preparing some stuff and went off to the human world. When I stepped in, I took a deep breath in and smiled. The human world always seemed to amaze me. Everywhere there were people smiling, children tugging on their parent's hands and sprinting around, and let me tell you, there is always this awesome smell of food in the air. Its like, no one worries about death. And makes me feel like I want to become part of this society. To be human and enjoy my life to the fullest. I don't want to worry about having to kill someone, I don't have to be trapped in the same room with my annoying brother, and I especially don't want to be viewed as an 'Ultimate weapon that collects souls'. Even if humans do die, it must be nice as well to die and not have to live with just suffering and regret anymore.
I walked around observing my surroundings. I never really had the chance to take a nice peaceful walk. Most of the times I come just to get the job finished and be forced back to the realm. So these surroundings are new to me. I walked and stopped when I heard a little purr. I looked down to find myself in front of the most adorable cat. It had the biggest green eyes, and its fur the color of snow. I smiled and bend down to pat it gently. I don't know how to explain but this small creature, made me very happy.
"You are very gentle mi'lady." A deep voice said as my eyes wandered up to see who it was. The voice belonged to a tall raven man, who wore an outfit dedicated to a butler. He was fairly handsome I may say, but he also gave off this mysterious aura.
"Should I take that as a compliment?" I raised an eyebrow as he smiled, starting to pat the cat with me.
"Maybe." He said, stroking behind the cat's ears. "Do you like cats?"
"I don't hate them." I said as the cat's tail wrapped around my hand. "I just rarely see them, that's all."
"And why is that?"
"Well ...where I live, cats are forbidden. Its against..." I tried thinking of the best excuse. "My parents religion."
"Is that so." He seemed to buy it. "My master won't let me keep cats since he's allergic."
"That sucks, he's missing out of how amazing these creatures are." I chuckled. This man, whose name is still a mystery, was someone interesting and a bit comfortable to talk with.
He nodded and put a finger on his lips. "A secret between us but I have cats hidden in the closet."
"Oh my god." I laughed just imagining that lucky master sneezing every time he walks by that closet.
The man then got up and checked his time. "I have to get going. Master gets very lonely if I'm late." He joked. I nodded picking up the kitty in my arms.
"Can I ask for your name?"
"Oh pardon my rudeness." He said formally. "My name is Sebastian, Sebastian the butler."
"My name is Roseletta but people sometime calls me Rose" I introduced myself and bowed, before watching him walk off. Sebastian, his name would be forever be engulfed in my heart as the butler who hides cats in the closet from his master. I hope someday I don't end up having to fetch his soul. But what I didn't know is, that Sebastian fellow, was a demon. My enemy.
