I own nothing, but I'm still wishing on every star.

AN: I just found this on my computer. I don't even remember writing it but I figured what the heck, might as well let everyone else read it.

She sees him walking down the hall and that smile instantly appears on her face. They both stop in front of his office door. He glances up at her from the file he seems totally engrossed in and flashes her a quick little smile. She watches him. Examining the expressions his reading is causing on his face. For one quick second the world around them disappears and they are the only two people. Just for a second. But then the two feet between them seems like two miles and the world reappears. But in that second, that brief moment of stillness, she let her mind wander. She contemplated putting her arms around him, just for a hug, just to feel his body against hers. But with the dawn of reality and his voice she snaps out of her fantasy.

"Did you need something?" he asks not looking up from his reading.

"Uh, no, not really. I was just wondering what you were up to and if you needed any help."

"Solve your case?"

"Yeah. It turned out to be a suicide after all. We found a note and a journal. She had it all planned out for months. So, do you need any help?"

"No. I was just going to do some paperwork. You go take a break and get something to eat. I'm sure something else will come in soon." And with that he went in to his office.

She stood there for a second, a look of defeat across her face, before heading to the breakroom.
