Easter at the Hart Residence
Easter is always a joyous time for many, children running amuck, bunnies and chicks all around, light pastel colors, everyone celebrating the Lord's resurrection. Well it was no different in the Hart household either.
Cheyenne and Kyra loved decorating the eggs with fun colorful patterns while their younger brother Jake enjoyed stuffing his face with candy and chocolate until he felt sick. Brock loved hiding the eggs in the wee hours of the morning while his beautiful wife Reba put the children's Easter baskets together. They had a great system.
Once the kids finished running around grabbing all the plastic, candy filled eggs their little hands could carry they opened their baskets full of toys, more candy, games, and other fun goodies and would spend the next few hours playing around having fun. While the kids were off being kids, Reba made the stuffing, rice, and green beans while Brock seasoned and glazed the ham. Their Easter dinner was just as important to them as Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner, everything had to be perfect.
Once the dinner was prepared and everything was put together for their feast that night, Reba got the kids dressed into their Easter clothes and the whole family headed to church to celebrate the most important thing about Easter: Jesus. Even Brock went to Easter service, he didn't like to go to church regularly (he would much rather would watch the football game) but he knew why it was important and that it was important to Reba, so he went.
Reba loved the story of Easter and going to church was her favorite part about the day, well that and spending time with her wonderful family. And after the church services were finished and they got back to their home, they ate the great food that was prepared and filled their home with happy joys and praises. Easter was a beautiful thing in the Hart house.
Well… that's how Easter used to be. Now Reba's children were too old to go egg hunting and play with their new toys. She still has her granddaughter, but Cheyenne and Van moved into their own house with Elizabeth and soon to be new grand baby. Kyra is in college and stops home only on occasion like if she wants her laundry done. Jake was still living at home, but the last thing he wanted to do was be a mama's boy. And lastly there was Brock, enjoying Easter with his new family. Henry was young enough to go egg hunting so Brock still has a little bit of Easter fun left before he gets to old too.
Everyone seemed to be happy and having fun laughing and giggling this Easter. But Reba was alone with only her thoughts of Easter's past and how her family used to be so perfect. But she tried to steer her thoughts towards God, and the real reason for Easter. Sitting down over dinner thanking the Lord for his sacrifice and to bless her food, she did pray for one thing in particular: she prayed for her family to be with her on Easter. Her prayer came true.
Before Reba knew it she was no longer alone with her thoughts. Cheyenne, Van, and Elizabeth came to spend the rest of the evening with Grandma. Kyra came home from college… mostly for the home cooked meal. Jake wasn't going to be left out if everyone else was here. And Brock, Henry and Barbara Jean stopped by to see how everyone was. This Easter was just like old times… except Reba's perfect family gained a Henry, an Elizabeth and a Barbara Jean. This was a truly special Easter.
