"Are we there yet? And I could seriously do without the hand-holding." Jasper growled.
"Hold on, we're almost there!" Steven continued to guide her along, to a surprise he had waiting for her. It would only be a matter of minutes.
"You better not be leading me off a cliff or something. I'd expect that out of Rose Quartz."
"Nope!"
Steven and Jasper had reached the door to the gems' rooms. Steven activated his mother's door.
"Ready?" He asked, leading her inside the pink room.
"Should I be worried?"
"Haha, no way! Open your eyes!"
Jasper's eyes blinked open. It felt strange to be in such a fluffy, unearthly place. But the most shocking part made her eyes tear up.
Her Diamond was standing in front of her, only 10 feet away. Jasper formed a diamond salute without thinking.
"I'll explain later." Steven left her with her diamond, only hiding so he could watch everything happen.
"M-my Diamond. Jasper, f-fac-"
Pink Diamond cut her off. "No need to introduce yourself; I'll always recognize my perfect Jasper."
Jasper took a few steps closer.
"My Diamond, h-how..." Jasper held her salute and posture, staring in shock at her diamond's beauty.
"Don't question this moment. We're here together and nothing else matters!" Pink took a few steps closer to Jasper, placing her hand under Jasper's chin so that she would look her in the eye. "Look at you... Even after your corruption, you're still flawless..." She affectionately booped one of Jasper's horns.
Jasper couldn't speak. Was everything she'd lived for just a game? She fought ferociously to keep her composure.
"I wish I'd been around long enough to spend more time with you, maybe give you a Pearl... You deserve that and so much more for everything you've gone through for me."
Pink placed her hands in Jasper's.
"You didn't deserve to have to suffer in silence for so long, thinking I was gone... I'm so sorry for everything I've put you through, but even when I was shattered you still remained perfect."
"I-I... My diamond, you have nothing to apologize for! I-if anything, I must apologize for allowing- allowing Rose Quartz to-to break you... With all due respect, I'm nothing like you think I am..."
Ashamed of herself, Jasper averted her gaze away from her diamond's gorgeous eyes. Tears began to escape from her eyes. She couldn't fight them any longer.
"Jasper," Pink Diamond dried her soldier's tears away. "Nothing at all, not even your strength could have stopped what happened. You've done everything right since you first emerged. No Quartz could ever measure up to you, my perfect Jasper. Never forget it."
Jasper lowered her head as much as possible, hiding her face. She couldn't help but cry. Pink took her hands once more.
"Oh Jasper, why are y-you crying? Darling, please..." Pink sat down, inviting Jasper to do the same. Jasper rushed into her diamond's embrace.
"I couldn't do anything... I saw her murder you a-and I couldn't... I didn't do a-anything! I-I was worthless and I am now!" Jasper wailed.
Pink ran her fingers through Jasper's long hair. "Oh Jasper, I'm so lucky to have such a devoted, amazing gem in my court. Not even Blue Diamond's best Agate could compare to you. You're perfect."
Jasper wept into her hands, secretly enjoying being stroked like an animal by her radiant diamond. This was a true honor.
"Thank you so much, for everything... I want you to keep fighting, not for me, but... for you, my perfect Jasper."
The feeling of her diamond's touch faded away, leaving her weeping on the floor.
Just like that, Steven reappeared. He hesitantly tried to comfort her, placing his hand on hers.
"I have something I need to tell you..."
