Under Her Mask

Everyone knew who Cat was. She was the random one, the one with hair the color of her favorite food, a girl with a random personality and mental disorders. The red head had so many friends and was always happy at school.

She was also one of the best actresses in the school. Her title in her drama class was four out of more than fourty kids her age. Cat was truely phenominal. Everyone would think she was the poster child for some make-you-happy soda or something. She even made Jade happy.

But, no one knows her at home. When she steps through her door in the afternoon, her mother figure is never home and her step-dad is passed out on the couch. Her smile fades with each step up her staircase. Up in her room, she blasts her music and goes on the internet.

Cat still acts happy as she blogs and web-chats people. But honestly, she is rarely truely happy, she is only acting. She really deserves her fourth place spot in class. The girl is after all, almost always acting.

And at times, she is truely happy when a certain person sends her a video. She loves listening to Beck's voice, even if it is over speaker. Cat grew up with him, and she had always fought back feelings for him. Lately, she had been losing that battle with herself.

Because with every day, the mask she wears over her face begins to crack, and her acting slips up. Little emotions show through, hinting at her sadness and love for her best friend. No one had commented on it, even so, she knew that they would one of these days.

And everyday, she just gathers up her true self and her true emotions into a box, locks it, and hides it from the world. No one can even tell she's been wearing a mask all of these years.
