Chapter 1: When Life Was Still Normal [Part I]

-Normal- A girl around 15 walked into her new school. She had thick, silky hair and beautiful, playful eyes. She wasn't extraordinarily pretty, but pretty enough that guys would stare for a second or two. During Emi's first day of school at Domino High, she was rejected by everyone (except for the guys). They all had already formed their own cliques and didn't need her to butt in near the end of the year.

-Emi- I lay down on my bed after my first day at Domino High and started sobbing.

What's wrong with me? Why didn't anyone talk to me? I only got stares from the guys!

Just then the phone starts to ring.

"Hello?" I say under my sobs.

"Oh, hi! It's Tea."

Okay, so not everything in my life sucks.

"Um, Emi, are you there? Are you alright?"

"Yeah, sure," I say.

"Hey, um, would you like to come over to Yugi's grandfather's game shop? It's right down the street from your house, I think."

"That'll be wonderful!" I say, "Are you sure Yugi and his grandfather are okay with it?"

"Yeah, everything is fine!"

-Tea - After about ten minutes I called, Emi arrived at Mr. Motou's game shop. She seemed pretty happy. Joey and Tristan started drooling over her. I couldn't believe they didn't notice her at school.

I introduced Emi to my friends, with Joey and Tristan fighting to kiss her hand. To bring a little peace to the world, I dragged them into a closet and locked them up.

Yugi smiled nervously. He was a little embarrassed by his friends' behavior. Mr. Motou, Yugi, Emi, and I sat down to converse while having tea. Joey and Tristan created a distraction, but we were having a great time until Emi's Mom called to see if it was okay that she went back home.

-Emi- After I got back home, I sat down and started my homework.

Wow, I can't believe how nice Tea and her friends were to me! I should hang out with them more often.

It was quite weird how Tea mentioned not to mess around with anyone wearing a royal purple trench coat. I wonder what's wrong with a guy simply because of what he wears.

-Seto- I sat at my desk, barking orders at my inferiors.

What a bunch of useless idiots they are.

After all of my advisors had gone out of the door sulking, I glanced at my clock. It read 1:03 AM.

Another day with no liveliness in my life. How wonderful. Anyway, it's late and I should go back home to see Mokuba's asleep or not.

My work limo drove me back home in no time. I checked Mokuba's room to make sure he was asleep. Just as I was about to turn the lights of his room on, Mokuba naively popped out from nowhere, making me squeal like a little sissy while getting a heart attack.

"Hey, big bro. You said you would come home early to play a round of Mario Sunshine with me to help me train for the tournament tomorrow," Mokuba said, sobbing, giving me the innocent look I've been vulnerable to since who knows when.

"Yeah, I'm sorry," I replied, searching in my stuffed brain how to get out of the whole situation without Mokuba bringing up the number of all the other nights that I didn't come home early enough to play a bunch of silly games with him.

After I hurried Mokuba to bed, I thought of school. Yes, I did. Can you believe that? My life is so messed up that I'm starting to think about school.

Maybe I should go there to waste some of my time and chill out a bit. There's nothing but paperwork for my assistant. I won't forget to leave enough work to torture him for the day.

I chuckled heartily at that thought, and went off to bed.
