Harry Potter
The door slammed as he walked in, his Death Eater robes billowing behind him. I looked at him, expecting some sort of news, but he said nothing.
"Severus?" I asked, fearfully. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, Headmaster," he replied, looking at the floor.
"I think we both have a different definition of fine," I said, teasing. I waited for a laugh that never came.
"Headmaster, may I leave?" he asked.
"What happened?" It was unusually for Severus to leave this quickly after a meeting. He always explained the information that he got and what Voldemort requested of him by the next gathering.
"Nothing. The night was uneventful."
"Severus." I put my hand on his shoulder and squeezed it, gently. "Tell me."
"There's nothing to inform you of," he answered, sharply, removing my comforting hand and walked towards the door, but then he broke.
It happened so quickly that I barely made it in time to catch him before he fell to the cold floor. I put him on the couch, tenderly. His eyes were closed and I knew that the exhaustion had finally gotten better of him.
I grabbed a chair and positioned it next to where Severus was sleeping. He truly looked so much younger when he was asleep. As I stared at him, I remembered how much Severus had given away for the greater good. He left his home for Hogwarts. He left the place he knew best for another one, but it would never be the same. He puts his life, sanity, and mind in the hands of fate.
Fate is so cruel.
Because of fate, Severus suffers from torture and so much pain. He has to lie to the most dangerous man on the world. He has to give up so much for the wizarding world. For the Order. For me.
For Lily.
Fate and Lord Voldemort seem to work together. Partners in crime, one might say. They both torment Severus in such a terrible manner. But I will do everything in my power to protect him from this suffering.
Severus is too stubborn, though. He never tells us when he's hurt. He'd rather deal with Voldemort on his own, but I know he can't.
He knows too.
But he won't admit to anyone because he has too much pride. It's his strength.
But also his weakness.
Severus blocks his mind from me sometimes. I hate it when he does that, but I know if it were important in his eyes, he would tell me and open his mind.
Severus doesn't think he's important to me. Or to anyone. I believe this is also the reason why he closes his mind. Whenever he's hurt, he closes his mind. Severus is clever, but he doesn't know that every time he does this, it's a dead give away that he's hurt.
In this manner, Severus can never hide the truth about Lord Voldemort's torture, so we'll always be able to help him.
Severus needs someone who he can trust and tell all of his worries or secrets to. I doubt Severus would want such a person, but I'm sure that deep down inside, he does. He always wants to be independent and perfect. That special someone would give him the support he needs. That special someone cares and worries about him.
I hope that I will be that special someone to Severus.
Because, even if he refuses that brilliant offer, I'm going to be that person for him anyway.
Because, Severus, I'm always going to be there for you.
Famous last words, eh, Dumbledore? You're such a liar.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed the story, blah, blah, blah….
