A Hogwarts Christmas
"T was the night before Christmas when all through the school
Not a creature was stirring, not even a ghoul
The great hall was decorated with small fairy lights
And the fires were lit through those long winter nights
The students were nestled, all snug in their beds
While visions of chocolate frogs jumped in their heads
And Fawkes in his cage, and I in my cap
Had just settled down for a long winters nap.
When out in the hall there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the door I flew like a flash
Knocked over a vase with a resounding crash
The light from the moon through the upper window
Gave a eerie shadow to the objects below
When what to my wandering eyes should appear
But two identical figures were creeping near.
With a hair colour of red that stood out so easily
I knew in an moment it must be the Weaslys!
More rapid than Hippogriffs 'round the corner they flew
With arms full of sweets and butterbeer too.
"To the common room!" called George to his twin Fred.
I knew at once they were not heading for bed.
"To the center of the party! To the center of it all! Now dash away Fred and please don't fall!"
As a tornado destroys whatever is in it's path
Similar was the Weasly twin's wrath
So along the corridor the trouble-makers ran
And then in an instant from the end of the corridor
They muttered a password and entered Gryffindor
As I stepped out of my door and turned around
The portrait hole closed without making a sound.
I admitted myself, for I needed no word
I could not be seen and I could not be heard.
They were dressed all in red from their head to their foot
And on a great long table their loot was put.
The common room was decorated oh so heartily
It looked like they were preparing for a party!
Their eyes how they twinkled, their faces how merry
As they marveled at the things that Fred and George had to carry.
There were cakes and crisps and some kind of goo,
Chocolate frogs and butterbeer too.
And then the music began to play.
If Professor Mcgonagal were here she'd have something to say!
Harry Potter laughed while clutching his belly,
As Ron imitated a bowl full of jelly
Also at the party was Dobby the elf
And Hermione too in spite of herself.
When all of a sudden the laughter died down
Minerva was there in her tartan nightgown!
"Never in my life have I seen such commotion!"
And she pointed to the dorms with one quick motion.
Reluctantly they all trudged off to their beds
With hopes of a good Christmas day in their heads.
I sprang from my hiding place
Wanting to get back to sleep
I snuck out the portrait hole, not making a peep
But I heard the twins exclaim as I faded from sight
"Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!"
