And now that I've finished my first multi chapter epic in this fandom, I'm ready to post my first one shot. This story is based on something that happened between me and my husband. It was so sweet and wonderful that I wanted to adapt it for all my shipper couples who I think it would fit. So far, I've only done Addison and Derek. I do have two versions of this because I misplaced the notebook I wrote the first draft in and so since it was a one shot and not a multi chapter epic, I thought I'd just re write it. So, I did and then I found the other notebook that I had misplaced. So now I have two first drafts and no clue which came first. At one point they both might have been misplaced. Yes, I really am this scatter brained. Lol Or just really disorganized. Lol In any case, I did find them but can't remember which one I found first. But it might have been this one since this is the one I transcribed into Word first. I do have the other one transcribed into Word too and am quite willing to post it as well, if anyone is interested. Please let me know and also what you think of this one. I do hope you will enjoy it but even if you don't you can let me know that too.

Derek Shepherd was sleeping soundly when he was awakened by whimpering. Turning towards the sound he found his wife, Addison. The sounds were coming from her. It looked like she was in the grip of a nightmare. That was confirmed when he heard her say clearly, "Please don't hurt me."

He scooted closer and touched her. "Addie, Addie. It's all right. I'm right here. You're safe. Go back to sleep."

That did work for at his touch she had instantly quieted and her body that had been jerking around instantly stilled.

"De-Derek"

"Yes, Addie. It was just a nightmare. Go back to sleep my love."

And even in her half- awake state she sensed the love and caring and responded.

The next morning with the sun shining brightly on her she yawned and stretched. Derek did too.

"Derek."

"Yes, Addie."

"Did I have a bad dream?"

"Oh, so you don't really remember? Yes, you did."

"And did you touch me and soothe me and make it better?"

"Judging by how you quieted down when I touched and soothed you, I'd say, yeah, I guess that I did do that" He gave her a goofy grin.

"Thank you for that."

"No, thank you."

Addison furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "I'm not following you. What are you thanking me for?"

"Because it means the world to me that after everything we've been through, after everything that I've put you through, the fact that I could still be the one to make your nightmare go away, that just means so much to me. So, I'm thanking you for being strong and courageous enough to trust me again, to take comfort from me again to believe in me again."

"Oh, Derek."

And on that note, they kissed and proceeded to celebrate their love and trust in the way that married couples are wont to do.
