The land was warmed by the late summer sun and the not yet cold ashes of what once was a small city. A poet might have described it as the scared face of a fair maiden, green and brown corrupted by the greys and reds.

The blonde commander was no poet and would describe the landscape as a regular man, or as a country. Regardless of which the land before him was Russian and therefore not beautiful. Or at least it was Russian twenty-four hours ago. Right now it was occupied or something like that, not that the United Kingdom cared.

All he knew was that a city had been burned down and that the people who just yesterday had lived there treated his men like some kind of liberators. Weaklings indeed, who actually thanked their attackers? No one, that is who.

"Oi, l'Angleterre!" Well, there goes his smoking time.

"What is it frog?"

"Can a big brother not worry for his little brother's well being?" the French man countered light-hearted, this time completely destroying the Brits peace.

"As we are not related, no, absolutely not. Now, be so kind and let me have a bloody smoke." Maybe he could trade the Frenchman for the islands they were standing on, or just throw him of the ship when no-one was looking.

"Well, mon cheri, your... équipage would like to leave now so I must deny your request." Of course, those egger boys, ready to go battle the big bad Russians. And as their country the Kingdom could only watch as their guts coloured the ground. All right, that was unfair, they had done well those last few days and they had earned some of his respect.

Still, soon enough they would face the force of the real war. And as the two countries made their way down to the shore they ignored the tales of hurt they almost could see in the landscape. To them the land told as much of a story as any personification.

But the Kingdom and the Empire had learned to ignore these stories, they had a graver situation at their hands.

I do not, obviously, own Axis Powers Hetalia or any of the characters in this Fanfiction.

Though, I hope you enjoyed it and will leave a review if you can spare the time.
