Waking up, such a simple act , but a slight change can cause the mundane and ordinary to become something more. It's odd how easy it was to adjust such a big part of my life. Most days it seems as if it has simply always been this way, but on others I marvel at how monstrous the difference between those first years on the crew and during the separation were compared to now. The warmth, the gentle pressure, the calming assurance that she is there, safe in my arms, those are what I can't compare to any other pleasure I've ever experience. The movement on my chest draws me out of my reverie as onyx eyes lock with the sleepy azure ones that are just awakening.

"Morning"

"Hmm, good morning. Have you been awake long?"

"Not really, just thirty minutes or something like that."

"You should have woken me up so you didn't have to stay still and silent for half an hour."

" I don't mind, plus I like watching you sleep."

"There's not much to watch, or do I behave oddly when asleep now that we share a bed?"

"No, nothing like that, I just enjoy it, it's kinda hard to explain I guess."

"That's sums up our relationship nicely."

" Yeah, I guess it does."

I watched her climb out of bed and begin searching for clothes more suited for the party I knew would begin as soon as we left the asylum of our new room than the nightdress she was currently wearing. Preferably, we would stay here in our private sanctuary for a tad longer, but the crew thought of today as a special occasion and insisted on my participation.

"You should get dressed before Luffy comes and drags you out like that."

"Right, our captain doesn't know boundaries."

As I started pulling on pants that had been carelessly thrown on the floor the previous night, two slender arms wound their way around my torso successfully turning me around in the process. Robin leaned in and pressed her soft lips to mine for a several seconds before withdrawing to lay her head in the crook of my neck. This process continued to surprise me in a very different way then the upcoming party was suppose to. Pressing her closer to me I spoke the truest words that had ever left my mouth, "I love you". Withdrawing, we finished dressing and interlocking our hands went to greet the crew. Opening the galley door unleashed an onslaught of confetti and a chorus of "Happy Birthday Zoro" from the energetic crew. Today there would be presents, food and guaranteed excitement and joy from being surrounded by the bunch of misfits I had claimed as nakama. However, watching our resident archaeologist take a seat by the greedy witch and strike up a conversation about today's agenda I couldn't help but think that the day's activities couldn't compare to waking up with Robin.
