Series; Happiness Is :: One-Shots.

Jessica had called Harvey into her office an hour ago to inform him that he would be heading upstate to meet with a new client. After complaining about the long drive, almost begging for her to send Louis, and getting nowhere to get out of the arrangement, the senior partner had agreed - not that he had much of a choice. He found Mike at his desk and told him to meet him downstairs in ten minutes ready to go.

Now, only one-third of a way through the trip, Mike had already read each of the documents in the file Harvey had given him seventeen times and was blankly staring out the window. There was something about driving out of the city limits. Mike couldn't put his finger on it, but there was just something...about it. The city itself was magnificent, but everything beyond it was beautiful also. It held some sort of elegance.

Mike's eyes were growing with fascination as tall skyscrapers became less frequent and they began leaving the normality of inner city sights.

Harvey watched the younger man from the other side of the car, amused grin on his face. His associate looked like a child who was on their way to Disneyland. Mike had folded his legs on the seat of the car, between him and Harvey, his elbow resting against the ledge by the door handle with his hand supporting his head. It was rather cute, really - if Harvey wanted to think of a good word for it. The lawyer glanced out of his own window in an attempt to see what was interesting Mike so much. He looked back at Mike when he couldn't find it and smiled. Mike's eyes were locked to the beauty outside and Harvey reached out to him, tugging lightly on his sleeve. The younger man looked back at him an expectant look, eyes eager and bright. Harvey took his hand, without a word, lacing their fingers together. Mike glanced at their conjoined hands then met Harvey's eyes with an even brighter smile.

Harvey enjoyed the familiar feel of Mike's hand in his as the associate's eyes traveled back out the window, pulling their hands into his lap, and Harvey continued to watch.

Mike thought driving out of the city was beautiful.

Harvey couldn't see it the same way, but, he found that watching Mike as they left those city streets was just as beautiful.

Well, I hope you enjoyed it. Review it please. I'm off to a friend's funeral, see ya.
