Forever, Time and Eternity

The story takes place after the events of Suikoden Tactics after Kyril left for his journey.

As the wave crashes against the rocks near the cove, Lazlo laid under a huge coconut tree to catch a wink or two. Chiepoo was out on a trip and Snowe went to Obel to help Lazlo temper his swords that morning, saying he'll late afternoon. The mermaids were out for a swim.

"Yup, this is the life." The wielder of the Rune of Punishment thought himself. He got the whole island to himself that day. At least, he thought he did.

"Mind if I join you?" said a familiar voice.

Lazlo opened one of his eyes to see his old ally and good friend Kyril.

"Sure, why not." Lazlo replied sheepishly as Kyril took a seat next to him.

They sat there without speaking for quite a while, enjoying the warmth of the afternoon.

"I see you haven't changed one bit." Kyril finally spoke.

"Speak for yourself." Lazlo replied sheepishly. "What are you doing here anyways? Shouldn't you be back at Scarlet Moon with Andarc and Seneca?"

"Nah, decided to go traveling instead."

"When are you going back?"

"Don't think I'll be going back at all."

Lazlo finally opened his eyes. "I thought so. How are you going to travel?"

"I got myself a boat." Kyril said, looking towards the water at his small little sail.

Lazlo gave a little smile, "They'll be looking for you, especially Corselia."

Kyril lied down beside Lazlo and looked at the light seeping through the leaves. "I know that, but I don't think I can handle it when…"

"When they die?" Lazlo said, finishing the sentence for him.

"Yeah, that's it." Kyril's voice grew softer as he spoke. "So, I decided to go on a journey. I don't want to go back and spent endless days seeing my friends move on."

"So, where are you planning to go?" Lazlo asked.

"Nowhere, maybe just see the world. After all, I do have and eternity to do it." Kyril replied.

"You and I both my friend. You and I both." Lazlo said.

Silence took them again as they laid there thinking of the countless things they could do with forever within reach. A whole hour passes before anyone spoke again.

"So, what about Flare and Lino?" Kyril asked.

"What about them?" Lazlo shot back.

"Don't play dumb, you'll have to tell them sooner or later you know. Even if you don't they'll fine. They're not as dumb as you may think." Kyril told him.

"I don't think I'll tell them." Lazlo said with a pause. "I don't want them to think I'll be alone forever when they die. That's not something good one should be thinking at death."

"You speak of death more calmly now, why is that?" Kyril asked again.

"Maybe because it seems so far out of reach now." Lazlo replied, frowning ever so little. "If I die, the Rune of Punishment will start taking more lives again. I can't let that happen."

Kyril gave a look at his friend, "Yeah, I guess you're right."

"Maybe I can come along with you on your journey?" Lazlo said, trying to steer away from the depressing subject.

"I guess its okay. But what about your friends, they'll be missing you when you're gone." Kyril told him.

"That maybe so, but I'll miss them just as much when they die." Lazlo replied.

"I feel like we're cursed man, living for eternity. I don't understand why so many people wish for this life." Kyril said.

"Hey, you got years to find the reason, so stop thinking about it for now." Lazlo said, trying to cheer his friend up.

"Okay." Kyril replied. "No use worrying about stuff like that now."

A rustle came from a nearby bush and the two men stood up. "Now what was that?" Kyril exclaimed as he drew his weapon.

A huge crab crawled out a point its pincers at them. "Dinner." Lazlo said. "Are you staying? Snowe will be there." He asked.

Kyril replied with a smile, "Sure, why not. After all, I got all eternity." And the two men unleashed the power of their runes…
