He stared at the dull grey walls of his room. It was 6:59, his parent would walk in, hand him his kit and he would be sent out into the snow until sundown. Sometimes they would arm him with a ASI-29, a small plinker of a dust pistol designed for small Grimm.
He hears the door to his room open and focuses on what he needs to do.

He looks at his new home strangely. He's never seen so much Green in his life, it's almost sickening. His parent pushes him forwards and he marches forward like he's trained to do. He looks around the green lawn, the green trees, and the green house. He's so used to white that he feels almost out of place here.
He walks into his new house, it's baren of course, but that's because his parents liked it that way. When they inevitably leave here they won't need to spend time packing.
He walks up to his room and looks at the clock hanging on his wall. It's 6:53. He doesn't need to sleep for another 7 minutes. So he doesn't, he just sits and waits until the clock hits 7:00.

His parents have stayed here longer than normal. At most they stay somewhere for about 2 months, then his parents order him to pack his gear and to move out.
This time they've stayed for at least 6 months. His parents send him to a School nearby, a Huntsman prep school called Signal.
He decides he doesn't like it there, they're too inefficient, they give students a whole hour to eat. They have rules during duels, ones that are more crutches then anything else. They often give students time to mingle in the morning before class instead of just sending them to class when they get there.
He wonders how anyone learns here?

His parents tell him that they plan on staying here for much longer. Apparently, they have a duty to fulfil. He nods and remains silent until his parents dismiss him. He goes to his room and looks at the clock like every day. 6:42, he has 18 minutes till he needs to sleep.
He goes to the windowsill and looks outside at the sunset. All the colours seem to blend together in a way that almost to entrance him.
As he looks at the sunset he notices a colour much more vibrant than the others.
Red.
He decides Red is a nice colour.
