Kurama made his way out of his apartment and down into town. His eyes held a spaced out quality to them and his mouth was pressed into a grim line of regret. On his journey to the secret destination, Kurama came across a flower stand. Scanning over the large selection, he found something that suited the situation perfectly- a black rose. He purchased it and continued on his way.
The sun was setting when he finally reached the place; the cemetery. Kurama hated this place; it held such bittersweet memories to him. It held the happiest moments of his life, yet also the saddest. Though Kurama put his discomfort aside and walked in and up to a certain grave. It was a plain polished stone set in the ground, guarded by a sakura tree which was her favorite of course… anything for her.
Kurama kneeled down and brushed some decaying flower petals off to reveal a name.
Kaila Mae Minamino
Beloved Wife and Mother
1985-2007
A tear fell down Kurama's cheek and splashed on the plaque. He put the rose down and bit his lip. It was so hard to try to act like nothing was wrong and talk to her, while her body lay decaying in the ground. Kurama looked down and whispered "It's been 2 years Mae, 2 long long years." He looked at the sun and then back down "Though you're probably wanting to know about Kiara right? Kiara's doing great. She's talking more often now…"
He paused to give a weak laugh "She's a little chatterbox just like her mother. She's visiting Okasan today, because…" He looked down "I had to visit. I still can't believe you're gone. I know told me before you… you left that it wasn't my fault yet-"
Another tear fell down his cheek "I still feel that it is. If I had killed him like I should of, he wouldn't have come after you, and you'd still be here." Kurama clenched his fists when he heard an "Hn." He looked up at the sakura tree to see two large crimson orbs staring at him.
Kurama wiped his eyes, and looked up at the fire koorime "What are you doing here, Hiei? I thought you were in Makai." Hiei closed his eyes "That's not important, fox. What's important is you're wasting your time sitting here complaining about things you cannot change. Like my sister would want to hear that."
Hiei opened one eye and looked at Kurama "Kaila doesn't lie, she never has. What she told you about it not being your fault was the truth. You should know your mate better Kurama. You should also know that crying about something that's not your fault isn't any way to honor Kaila's memory."
Hiei looked away and stared at the setting sun "You should be with your kit; her resemblance to Kaila is uncanny. Kaila would throw a fit if she knew you were fussing over her like this, fox. And then she would have my head for letting you." Kurama smiled a bit at that; she always did hate the attention on herself. Hiei stood up and jumped onto the ground "So in the interest of not pissing off the dead, I suggest you get off your ass fox and go do something with Kiara."
Hiei began to walk away when Kurama muttered "You're right." Hiei stopped and gave him a sideway glance, "Hn." Before running off. Kurama began to walk, but then stopped and looked at her grave "I love you." He whispered before walking off.
Little did he know two crimson orbs watched him walk off, before jumping down to the grave. Hiei pressed his hand against the plague and said "Hn, took him long enough, didn't it Kaila?" Hiei sighed and looked at the sun as it finally disappeared. "May you rest in peace sister."
