Rain was appropriate.

But it was snowing.

It caught on her hair. Her beautiful, mangled hair. It had felt like silk when he ran his fingers through it though.

Snow falling on a silken beast. She was a beast. She was a lion. There was nothing else she could have been with that mane.

"This can't happen," she whispers through the air, snow flakes gathering on her eyelashes as she keeps a solitary tear from falling; it would turn to ice by the time it reached her chin.

She shivers. She holds herself to keep warm. He knows she wouldn't let him hold her anyway.

"You say that as if this is the first time this has…happened."

She looks him straight in the eye. "That's because this…can never have happened. It, it was a lie."

"A lie found only in an alcove of trees, too far to matter," he ventured. He can't help but hope. He could keep this secret forever, a secret locked within the confines of these trees in this forest; for her. He would always do that for her.

Because in this lie, he found his closest truth.

"Dra-Malfoy."

And that's all she has to say. That's all it takes to rip him apart.

"Leave," is all he can manage. She moves to.

The tear falls.

But he wipes it away before it can freeze.

And she kisses him. Just once. Before she walks away from this alcove of trees in this forest.

The alcove of trees where Draco Malfoy leaves his heart.

Really short, angsty drabble.

I wrote this in ten minutes after reading WAY too much angsty DMHG fanfiction. xD
