Fluttershy slowly walked towards the gate to the Sweet Apple Acres farm.

She hesitated at the gate, reconsidering her plan of action. In her mouth she held a small card in the shape of a heart. She usually just spent Hearts and Hooves day sadly at home with her bunny, Angel.

This year she decided that she didn't want to be alone on Hearts and Hooves day; she wanted to spend her day with her special somepony.

Except that she didn't have a special somepony.

So here she stood, quivering at the front gates of Sweet Apple Acres, looking like a lost filly.

"Fluttershy! Get a hold of yourself!" She whispered angrily. She didn't come all this way just to chicken out in the last second.

"Okay, I can do this. Just go to the farm, Fluttershy." She tried to encourage herself.

Shakily, she pushed open the gates and stepped onto the dirt path leading to the barn.

After carefully shutting the gate behind her, she cautiously made her way towards the barn.

She hoped that Applejack didn't see her; it was scary enough to ask someone to be your special somepony, yet alone in front of an audience.

She constantly threw nervous glances towards the house, but it didn't look like anyone was home.

As she neared the barn, she heard hoofsteps rummaging around in hay, and she poked her head into the barn.

It was pretty dark, with only one window of light illuminating the barn.

"U-um… H-hello?"

She saw a dark shape coming towards her, not illuminated by the light.

"Eek!" She squealed, tumbling backwards.

"Eeyup?" The dark shape was just Big Mac.

"O-oh! I-it's just you…" Fluttershy whispered nervously.

"Eeyup."

Fluttershy took a deep breath. She wasn't going to be alone this year.

"I-I was wondering i-if you w-wanted to be my s-special… s-somepony?"

Big Mac glanced thoughtfully upwards for a moment. His head suddenly ducked down and he planted a kiss gently on her lips, making her drop her card.

Fluttershy gasped and blushed, unable to say anything, so Big Mac spoke.

"Happy Hearts and Hooves day, Fluttershy."
