A reply to the Queen
Ma'am, you are Her Majesty Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Empress of India and Defender of the Faith. This is the role you have been charged with through birth and fate. But I am the last Lord of Time, and I am charged with the safety of time itself.
Once my people could see every star that burns and watched over every soul that was ever or will ever be born in all of God's creation.
Now I alone bear this duty.
There are many things beyond the ken of men, and it is my duty to protect you from it. The darkness that is beyond your door is not held back by the door, but by the guard outside it.
These things that you fear, the stars and magic, we are the only thing that defends you from the dark world that is steeped in terror and blasphemy and death. You say we think it fun. I tell you that we must take it with such a hue else wise we would go mad.
You are right ma'am.
This realm is not your world.
It is mine.
You have no jurisdiction over it.
This life we live is indeed surrounded by death, but it is not our hand that brings it, rather but our hands that attempt to stay it.
Our life is hard, and fraught with peril, and all we have to rely on is each other. We risk our lives so that you and all the subjects of time might live without fear of the things that we hold back.
How can you truly think that we have strayed so far from good?
A/N: I don't own Doctor Who. I just thought the Doctor should have had an important reply to Her Majesty.
P.S. Thanks to Protector of the Gray Fortr... for noting the double use of "each other." I was writing this at like four in the morning.
