Chapter One
A Padawan No More
The warm rays of the setting sun danced gently across Coruscant's surface, turning the hard white stone of the ancient Jedi Temple to a pale shade of gold as the city planet slowly began to plunge itself into the darkness of night.
To most of the planets inhabitants, this marked the end of another working day, a time when they would return to their families, a time to rest and be happy with those whom they cared about, and yet, not all who walked the planets streets that night could say they were happy.
"I know…"
Those were her last words to him, and Ahsoka couldn't help but think about their significance as she slowly descended the steps of what was now her former home, leaving her former master and her best friend, Anakin Skywalker, to watch as she left the only way of life she had ever known.
Ahsoka had tears in her eyes, tears of anger, of sadness and of loss. A week ago she was the Padawan to the Chosen One and a Commander in the greatest army ever seen in the history of the galaxy, but now, now she was nothing more than an exile.
She wanted to turn around and run back, to wrap her arms around her master and beg his forgiveness, she wanted to become a Jedi again just so she could look over him like he had always looked over her, she wanted to hear him say that everything would be alright, even if she knew it was a lie, somehow, she just knew she needed to hear it.
Ahsoka shivered as the cold evening breeze brushed against her already shivering shoulders and made her raise her hands up to her arms in an attempt to try and keep herself warm while the sun disappeared behind the tall, shadowed buildings of Coruscant's skyline and plunged the capital planet's temple district into darkness.
There were tears streaming down her face as she reached the bottom of the Jedi Temple's long stone stairs, tears of sorrow that had come hand in hand with the decision she had just made to leave the only way of life she knew as well as everyone she ever cared about behind her to journey into the cruel and unforgiving world that now stood in front of her.
It hurt so much, why did they have to betray her like that? Why did they not trust her? She was innocent and yet the people she would once have considered her adopted family had thrown her to the wolves and left her to die at the hands of the Republic she had spent most of her short life fighting to defend.
Now she was all alone, walking the dark streets of Coruscant without even a credit to her name or a home to call her own. It was even colder now, colder even than it had been the night before when she was running through these very streets trying to evade an army of clone troopers and Republic police as she tried so hard to prove her innocence, only to fail and be brought back from the darkest depths of the planet to stand trial for her supposed crimes, coming so close to death and only avoiding it after someone she once called a friend had been revealed as the true culprit.
She shook her head, not wanting to think about it anymore as she came to a slow stop in the middle of a dark and lonely alleyway where a small sheltered and closed off doorway to an abandoned store house looked to be the only thing close to a place to sleep.
It was quiet, but Ahsoka still looked down either side of the alley to make sure she would not be disturbed while she tried and most likely failed to get some sleep before beginning her search for a real home the next day.
She sat down slowly, choosing a piece of discarded cloth she had spotted in a nearby trash canister to use as a sort of makeshift bed for the night, though it was anything but comfortable and forced her to sit with her back laying against the wall rather than on her side on the cold hard ground beneath her.
All of a sudden she found herself crying aloud, feeling tears running down her stained orange cheeks as she closed her eyes and tried so hard to drift away into sleep only to find that even that was becoming too hard a task for her to complete.
She had slept on much worse surfaces than this one, but the lack of any kind of food since the day before as well as the cold air that surrounded her and the unyielding sadness that still haunted her mind was proving too much for her bare as she covered her now bloodshot eyes and cried her hurt and pain for all the world to hear and yet knowing, that no one was there to hear it.
All she wanted was a warm blanket to wrap around her shaky body, a soft pillow to lay her aching head on and a happy home which she could call her own, but she had none of that now, she was all alone in a world that was as cruel as the fate she had had forced upon her by powers byeond her control and as much as she wished that somehow, someway things would get better, she couldn't help but believe that even that was a lie, yet one she wanted and did cling to with every fibre of her being as she sobbed quietly into her armguards and tried to find some truth in the torrent of emotions that were all too slowly breaking her young and fragile heart.

Author's Notes: Hey guys, hope you all liked this little Prologue to what will hopefully be a long and enjoyable story.
I know I've been building this up for quite a while since I finished Live to Rise and I'm really sorry for taking so long to finally get this show on the road. You all voted for it, so here it is; a prequel for Live to Rise and the story of Ahsoka's journey from the moments after she left the Jedi Order right up to her redemption.
I'll be doing my best to make sure I upload as regularly as I did with Live to Rise and again I really hope you all like what I have planned for what I hope will be my best story yet.
Anyways, thank you all so much for reading and I will catch you guys next time, cheers!
Additional Note: From here on in chapters will be longer.
