Spring was here. If Green couldn't tell by the blooming flowers scattered among the short, green grass, the crisp breeze and dazzling sunshine that weaved its way through the trees would tell all. Today was a beautiful day, and, of course, she wouldn't waste the nice weather by staying inside! No, today was the perfect day for a picnic, and she knew it. That's why she had taken the effort to haul her picnicking supplies and her adopted brother to some clearing in the middle of the woods somewhere. She had no idea where she was, either, but, in her mind, it was all worth it.

She looked over at the redhead sitting next to her, who was busy munching on a sandwich she had made for him. Silver, on the other hand, wasn't very happy about this little hike to the middle of nowhere. He didn't see the beauty in his surroundings like his older sister did, and she knew exactly why.

Green thought about this as she watched him silently. He'd been through a lot, so it wasn't surprising that he was rarely happy. But he should've at least tried to heal himself by now. And, well, he had. Physically. He wasn't so skinny his ribs sticked out anymore, nor was he covered in the cuts and bruises he had earned from the Masked Man the many times Silver had failed to reach his expectations as a Masked Child, and, especially, the boss of Team Rocket's son. Mentally, though, the miserable redhead had barely healed at all. Even though no scars could be seen on his body anymore, he still had some that would be stuck in the back of his mind, fooling with his head for the rest of his life.

"...Why are you staring at me?" Silver's voice awoke Green from her daze.

After putting on an incredibly fake smile, she responded with a simple, "Oh, no reason." The boy that knew her so well was completely aware of the fact that she was lying, but didn't question her further.

"Gorgeous day, isn't it?" the brunette asked in a feeble attempt to change the subject. A shrug was the only response that came from her brother. She didn't expect him to say much of anything.

After a long period of silence, Silver spoke up. "Are you okay, Green?" His normal expression, which was a strange mix between bored, dejected, and angry, actually turned into a rare one of concern.

"Of course I am," she answered, another fake smile seeming to consume her face.

"No, you're not."

"Yes, I am."

"No, you're not."

"I'm just... worried about you. That's all," she finally answered, her voice extremely quiet. "But don't stress about it. I'm okay." She reached over, pushed his long, thick hair out of his face, and kissed him on the cheek. His face turned almost as red as his hair. ...Why did he always do that...? She pushed the thought out of her mind.

"...While we're on the subject, there's something I need to tell you," he said nervously. They technically weren't on the subject, but now was as good a time as any to tell her.

"What is it...?"

He swallowed a bit before he continued. "...I love you."

"Aww, I love you, too, little bro!"

"No, not..."

"HEY, GET OFF OF MY SANDWICH, YOU STUPID ANT! EWWWW!" Green screamed suddenly before he could even finish what he was saying. Silver actually chuckled a little, loving how she could just rebound from anything in a matter of seconds.

"Anyways, what were you saying?" she asked. She couldn't help but catch a glimpse of him laughing. She loved it when he laughed. She loved it when he smiled. A small smile of her own crept onto her face.

"...Oh, nothing," Silver responded, kind of relieved that he didn't have to tell her.

Silence fell over the two for quite a while, until the redhead spoke up again.

"...Where the hell are we, anyway?"
