A/N: Yes, I know I'm meant to be writing Saria's Song. But I have Writer's Block, so I thought it might be cured with a good, simple songfic. This is just before Majora's Mask. And if you know the song, yes the parts are mixed up but I did that to suit the storyline.
Disclaimer: I don't own Link, I don't own Ruto. (Luckily.) I dont own Weatus. I don't own anything.
A/N: Link's POV.
I know I should have kept my promise to her. I promised to marry her, even though I was young and didn't understand what she was saying. And in the past, future, I don't know anymore, I saw her again. She was upset, in a way. I don't understand her, and I don't think she understands me. I don't love her. I never will. But she will never realise. I think she loves me, or at least is infatuated like all the other girls.
She's a pretty girl,
She doesn't know it's over,
She doesn't know that my plane leaves tomorrow.
I was going to look for Navi, the little fairy who helped me so much. But...I had to say goodbye to Zelda. I was so far from the Castle, I decided to get Kapoera to give me a ride from Lake Hylia. Maybe I could say goodbye to him too.
I'm looked out to the water. The clear blue water...like Zelda's eyes, I suddenly thought. Why did I think that? Suddenly, Ruto exited the water, right in my face. She has a strange habit of doing that.
"Hi Link," she said happily.
"Hi Ruto," I said, in a very different tone to hers.
"No need to sound so excited to see me," she said in a put out way.
"Don't worry, I won't," I replied grumpily.
"Well, I'd almost be upset that I'm going to be married to you, you grump!" Ruto exclaimed.
"Whatever," I replied moodily.
We're fighting again,
And the night turns into sunrise,
I know getting up for work will be a hellhole.
We said many awful things to each other during that fight. Well, more like I said many awful things to Ruto. She floated there taking in my furious insults, about to cry. Then she asked me something.
And now she wants to know,
If I ever really loved her,
If I ever meant that %^&$ about a wedding,
I said that months ago,
I can't believe that she remembers,
And now the secret's out that I'm a jackass.
Did I ever love her? That's what she asked. And I told her the truth.
"No. I never loved you and I never will."
She jumped into the waters of Lake Hylia and swam away, averting her face so I couldn't see the tears I knew were there.
"Hah, good riddance," I yelled after her. And, forgetting about saying goodbye to Kaepora, I ran away from the lake. Forever.
A/N: Well, it was a five minute fic, but I hope you liked it.
