After Hailey had crashed his airship, he wandered around in the wastelands for a while, looking for Eva, where he had let the life capsule drop her. He was only really looking for her because he only really cared about her. He liked her companions, but not as much as her. In fact, he believed that he even loved her. He kept walking, kept looking.

Finally, he collapsed in a heap on the ground, exhausted. "Eva." Her name was a whisper that left his lips.

A few hours later, Eva and her gang stumbled across his sleeping form. They were almost at Faunas. Eva Nine huffed as she looked down at him.

"I supposed we should help him." She leaned down and lightly slapped at his face. "wake up, Hailey. Hailey."

After a couple of minutes of this, Eva yelled in his ear.

"HAILEY!"

"Woah! You don't need to shout!" Hailey held his head. When he saw Eva, He jumped up and hugged her. "Oh, Eva, I've been looking for you. I'm so happy you're okay."

"Yeah, I can't say much the same, idiot."

His shoulders fell. "Please don't tell me you're still mad at me. Look, I said I'm sorry. Please believe me. I would never do that to you again. I... Can't we be friends... or something?"

"No. I can't trust you. Prove to me that I can trust you and then I'll be your friend, okay, Hailey?"

"Okay." There was a long pause.

"Well?"

"Well, what?"

"Aren't you going to prove to me that I can trust you?"

"You want me to do that now?"

"Yes. We're not going anywhere until you can prove to me that I can trust you. In fact, I'm not even going to tell you where we're going."

Hailey licked his lips. He looked to the ground, then back up to Eva. "How?"

"By your actions."

Hailey reached out and pulled Eva onto the ground next to him.

"Hey!" Eva was silenced by Hailey's lips covering her own. He pulled away, blushing bright red.

"Is that enough?"

Eva nodded her head, dumbfounded. "Yeah. Let's go."
