Prologue
"UNCLE CHARLIE!" the three-year old girl known as Alice cried as she left her coloring and rushed to her burly and loving uncle Charlie Deupraux came through the back door as he usually did.
"There's my favorite niece." He replied in his playful voice reaching down and lifting her off the floor onto his sturdy knee.
"Silly Uncle Charlie. I'm your only niece." She said as she snickered quietly.
"Oh yes, that's right." He said tickling and giggling right back at her as he lifted her off his knee and back onto the floor. Alice ran back to her place at the table and started coloring again.
"Hello Brother." greeted Daniel, Alice's father, as he was finishing dinner.
"Hello. So how's business been going?" asked Charlie.
"Good. This week I caught another villain. That's my tenth one this month."
"Why, what happened to Eloise and I caught another villain? Is everything fine between you two?"
"Well, I'm afraid not. Eloise wants a divorce with me and Alice." He said in a hushed tone so as not to be heard by the little ears nearby.
"That's interesting how you put that; me and Alice."
"Yes, but it's true. She doesn't want anything to do with Alice once it's final. In fact, she told me she's tired of the good spy look so she's transferring to the other side. Luckily she gave us the house though."
"But why doesn't she want Alice?"
"Well, she said she doesn't want her girl to begin vile. So at least she still cares about her."
"How do you think Alice is going to handle it?"
"Well, Eloise has already moved out but we haven't told her why. We just said that mommy was going on a trip for a while."
Just then, Alice came running up to Charlie and presented him with the picture she had previously been coloring. "Here Uncle Charlie I colored it just for you."
"Why thank you Alice. I'll hang it up in my office first thing Monday morning."
"Alright. Daddy, may I go watch some television?"
"Yes right after you go and change into that blue dress mommy and daddy got for you. Daddy's having some friends over tonight for dinner and I would like you to look nice."
"Okay, anything for you daddy." Then she started hopping off to her room. When she turned the corner she immediately popped back around and asked her dad. "Daddy, are we having a welcome home party for mommy?"
"No, not quite yet honey."
"Okay, see you in a little bit." Then she skipped back off.
Just then Charlie looked down at the picture little Alice gave him. There one the page was three people. One labeled daddy, one labeled me, and one labeled mommy. All of them were sitting in a field with flowers and sunshine.
"So what are you going to do?" asked Charlie.
"I don't know. But I've got to figure out something soon because knowing Alice she'll figure it out."
"Yeah, after all she is the daughter of the best in the business. But aren't you scared of how she's going to react?"
"It's never the job I'm afraid of, it's the devil instead of me that will be unleashed."
