Percy's Green Mile; The Green Mile. All rites to the characters and backgrounds belong to its creator. Story is about what is going on in Percy's mind after he gets sent to Briar Ridge Mental Hospital. Rated K+

In Briar Ridge Mental Hospital. If there was one patient that did not give the staff much trouble, then that patient was Percy Wetmore.

You see Percy had been a guard at Col Mountain Penitentiary. He had been posted on E Block better known as the Green Mile. But one day Percy had snapped. In fact the day before he was to transfer to Briar Ridge as a staff member Percy went over the edge.

He shot an inmate "Wild Bill Wharton" then fell into a catatonic state.

He has been in that state ever since.

But one has to wonder. If you were to peel back the layers of Percy's mind what you would find? You would hear the voices of the past. "Ha, Ha, Ha, Look it there, he peed his self." The voice of Eduard Delacroix or Old Del as he was known. He would be feeling the agony that Del went through when Percy deliberately sabotages Del execution. Percy feels this agony over and over again. For you see this is part of Percy's punishment. He also hears the yells and war hoops of old "Wild Bill" as he charges up and down the hallways of Percy's mind.

He also hears the squeaking of a mouse. Over and over again. You see there was a mouse on the Green Mile called Mr. Jingles who Percy tried to kill and failed.

But the one voice that he hears over and over again the voice of a gentle giant by the name of John Coffey. In his deep voice Percy this over and over, even over Del's laughter and his death screams, over Will Bill's yells and even over Mr. Jingles squeaks.

Percy hears this over and over. "You a Bad Man!"

That is what Percy Wetmore has going on in his head every minute of every day. This is his punishment. So if you walk by Percy's room and see him just standing there staring into space, just remember what is going on in his head. And you know John was right he was a bad man, and this will be his punishment for a long time to come.
