A/N: Day seventeen of a writing challenge.
Summary: Aomine is the only one that sees Kuroko; and he loves it.
Look
Aomine is greedy, he wants and wants and needs. So much so that he grins gleefully each time his team is startled by the appearance of his shadow. Because that means that Aomine is still the only one that knows Kuroko; that can constantly see him, can understand him.
His greatest pride is found in the fact that he owns Kuroko, that the petite boy is his; his partner, his shadow, his. Kuroko may play with the rest of the team and he may talk to other people, but, Kuroko is still his.
So Aomine is proud, he stands on high and looks down at the world below. Sneering at the mortals that would dare to challenge him until the mortals finally stop. And then everything is boring, everything turns droll. He tries to forget then.
He succeeds.
He forgets and drifts, silently watching as the world passes him by. His world goes dark, with only the occasional bright moment where -his- Kuroko tries to cheer him up. He fails though, Kuroko's words fall on deaf ears and Aomine shuts himself off, never knowing what he is about to lose.
He notices it eventually though. His most prized possession has slipped away; Kuroko is gone. He panics, confusion running rampant in his mind as he tries to figure out where his shadow has gone.
But, unlike before, he can't see his shadow. He can't find Kuroko, he is, for all purposes, blind.
Aomine searches; looking high and low for his missing shadow. He searches in vain though, because when he finally finds Kuroko again his shadow is some upstarts shadow. Kuroko had attached himself to a mediocre Light. Aomine is determined to beat this weakling, to defeat him and take back his Kuroko.
He beats Kagami, but the tiger in human skin come back. He returns and he beats Aomine, he defeats him and he sees his Kuroko.
Once upon a time, Aomine Daiki owned a human. A boy by the name of Kuroko Tatsuya. He was proud, proud that he alone was able to see the invisible boy.
Once upon a different time, Kuroko Tatsuya broke away. He left his Light and found a Tiger. Together they defeated the Light.
When The Generation of Miracles existed as a single team only one person could see the Shadow.
When The Generation of Miracles separated the Shadow became it's own person.
Aomine looked at Kuroko and found that he no longer owned the shorter boy.
