It is a little sad, Alfred admitted to himself, but at least I can't be hurt anymore, and I can't hurt
anyone with my lies.

He turned to Aetas, smiling once more. Aetas was the only... thing that could bring him
happiness anymore. Alfred didn't even let Matthew in anymore. "Hey, bro, wanna go to Elitches
today? I totally want to go on Tower of Doom again! That was so crazy, remember last time?"

"Sure, Alfred! And yeah, I remember last time. How could I forget, you screamed like a girl all the way down,"
Aetas said with a wink. "I can go get the car started up if you want me to...?"

"Yeah, dude. I'll grab some cash and meet you in the garage." That was one of the benefits of
being a country. He had a lot of money to waste.

Alfred picked up his wallet, and dashed out the door, into his backyard.

Aetas had given him the idea of gardening. It was peaceful, and kept his mind off of all his troubles with the other
countries, and so now his backyard was covered with peonies, roses, chrysanthemums, and a
bunch of other flowers, turning his yard into a forest. He plucked a daffodil at the bottom of the
stem, and tucked it into his pocket.

He continued along his garden pathway into the corner of the yard, where his garage lay. Unlike
many of the other countries, he decided he didn't want a bunch of fancy cars. With all the stress
in his life, what was the point of adding more? Deciding to live simply (except for video games
and a computer of course), he had a one story house with a basement, decorated in pastel
colors. His country hadn't been at war for years; a neutral zone. Over the years, it had actually
become harder and harder to live simply. Technology had advanced so quickly, old houses
being torn down, replaced with "smart" houses, Apple being surpassed by the newest and
greatest tech company, Lito, who dealt in everything. TVs, computers, cell phones, smart
watches, kitchen appliances... literally, everything.

Aetas was waiting patiently in the car for him. "Ready?" he asked. Aetas nodded and pulled the
car out of the garage, finding his way onto the highway. The trip was a half-hour long, in which
Alfred had the time to reflect over time. He thought about time quite a lot, nowadays. 3398 had
come so slowly, and yet at the same time, so quickly. He was used to the changes now, as they
had been bound to come. Alfred could sense back in the twenty-first century that people were
getting on top of things technology-wise. He had been excited, ready for robots and artificial
intelligence.

Just an idea that popped into my head one afternoon this weekend. Should I continue? :3 If not, it's just a fail of a one-shot with so much stuff unanswered x'D
