Betrayal

The night descends, the body is now cold

But our story goes backwards as it is untold

A gaunt white face in the darkest of hours

A man stands shaking, his body holds no power

The blade pulls back from where it juts

The scarlet blood steals back into its deep gory cut

The man goes back around the bend

Back to the beginning where he descends

The marble staircase is but a wonder

As he hurries up as fast as thunder

Where he finds no one to his surprise

For he hadn't known that it was all just lies

She had told him that she would be there

As she held his face and stroked his hair

"It'll be alright, no one will know,

You can trust me for I am a friend and no foe."

He had done something and was filled with remorse

Unknown to the fact his life was to take an unfortunate course

For in truth his friend was a foe

She was there when it happened and pretended not to know

But the truth hurt for them both

And the man thought as he lay his heart filled with loathe

"A friend is a friend and foe is a foe"

He whispers to himself in a voice so low

As his chest heaves and he takes his last breath

Alas the man is gone, given up to death
