Faded

Zuko was stareing into the mirror, his reflection looked back at him. He moved his fingers down his uncovered chest for the millionth time in 5 minutes. His chest disgusted him with the new scar on him. The scar on his face was enough, but now with the one on his chest for all these years, he was glad it was fading. The time when he and Azula battled had left him with a nasty scar on his front, and a tiny circle on his back. The on on his back healed pretty quickly, and recently last year it finally had faded to a memory.

The scar on his chest though, would never heal. It may at the edges but in the middle it was still there, still marked into him. Everytime he looked at the triangle shaped scar he was reminded of many things. He was reminded that he beat Azula, his sister. He had gotten the crown to the fire kingdom. Then he remembered who helped him, Katara. His loving wife.. It taken many years for them to get together, but they were now. Turning away from the mirror he saw the brunette standing there with her arms crossed below her chest.

"Um..." he said trying to figure a way out of the situation.

"Don't try that with me. I know what you were doing." Katara said crossing the doorway towards him.

"Try what?" He grinned trying to play innocent.

"You know what." Katara sighed. "Zuko... I..." Walking up to him, she hugged him. "I don't care about your scars."

"I do."

"I know you do, and you shouldn't. It makes you, you. Your scar on your face shows you're strong, you are stubborn. It makes you, you. " Touching the scar on his chest, Zuko flinched at her contact. The damage on his chest wasn't going to clear , it would always have a scar. Yet it would fade, not completely, but it will.

Katara pulled Zuko away form the bathroom and turned off the light. She led him over to their bed and pulled him down towards her. She layed next to him, holding him.

"Thankyou."

"No need to say thankyou. I would have done it anyway."
