Different Within.

It was night time at the hedge and Ozzie and the others were asleep. Heather was still awake and bored. She then smelt food from the garbage can beside the house across the street. "I'm sure Dad and the others won't mind if I get some food on my own. They're asleep." She thought as she stepped out of the hedge.

She snuck into the garden and made it to the trash can but a dog jumped over the fence and tipped it over. Heather felt pain in her leg and tail. "Oh snap! Maybe this wasn't a good idea." She whispered as everything went black… The next morning Heather awoke to find somebody sitting beside her. It was a human girl, a teenager. "Are you okay?" the girl asked as she stroked Heather's fur. "Oww, don't do that please. It hurts so much." Heather told her. "I'm sorry if I hurt you." the girl replied. Heather's eyes were wide in shock. "You can understand me?" Heather asked confused. "Yeah. My name's Carley and I'm disabled. I have no night vision, can't see sides and a bad back and I can't eat sugar. What's your name?" she explained. "My name's Heather Shatner Lavigne. My Dad is disabled like you. Don't you?" she replied. "Don't what? Have friends?" she replied. Heather nodded. "That's because the other kids don't like me because I'm disabled and because my face looks different. They think I look like a monster," she answered.

"That's sad. I think you look nice. I could be your friend and so could my family." Heather told her as she groaned in pain, "What's wrong?" Carley asked her. "My leg and tail,,, They hurt so much! I was getting food from the trash can and a dog tipped it over on me. I broke my tail and leg." she said softly. "Don't worry. I'll help you to heal and then we'll find your family." the girl replied as she picked up the teenage possum gently and went inside. She went to her room. Heather looked around her room. There were a lot of Shrek posters on the walls, book cases full of fantasy books amd comics. She then put Heather in her green bean bag chair. "Wow. Your room's pretty cool. Where's your parents? What will they say about me here?" Heather said. "Don't worry. They'll be happy I made a friend." Carley told her. Heather laughed at that.

But in the hedge Ozzie was freaking because he'd woken up and found that Heather wasn't beside him. He wanted to go find her but Verne stopped him. "She'll come back. She's a teenager. She probably wanted some space." he told him. Heather then saw her friend place a can of Coke Zero and some muffins beside her. "Thanks man but where's yours?" Heather said. "I'm okay. I already had some fruit for a snack. The muffins remind me of a joke." she replied. "Rwally? Tell it!" Heather told her.

"Okay there's these two muffins in a tin near the oven. The first muffin says "It's hot in here." and the orgwe muddin says "Holy Crap! It's a talking muffin!" Carley told her. Heather laughed loudly at that. "That was really funnt! Did you make it up?" she asked her. "No I didn't. I heard it on Two and a half Men on Paramount when I was at my grand parent's house." she explained smiling. Later that night Heather watched as her friend climbed into bed. She smiled as her friend closed her eyes and fell asleep hugging a monster doll. She was worried that when she was healed, she'd have to leave...
