1. Chapter 1

KIDNAP

7 year old Sam Harrison led his friend, James, up the steps into the playroom of his home. "This is gonna be the best sleepover ever!" He yelled.
"Yeah!" James replied, as the duo sat down to play with the Lego.

Fifteen minutes into their playing session, James announced he needed to go to the toilet. He unzipped his fly as he walked into the white tiled room.

Two minutes later, James emerged again. "I'm back!" he said to his friend, but there was one thing wrong with this scene. Sam Harrison was nowhere to be seen.

Then, a mysterious man covered in black walked around the corner. The man lunged at James and grabbed the wriggling, squirming child and tied his hands and feet together. James tried to scream, but there was a gag in his mouth. Then the man delivered a karate style punch to the forehead and the small, struggling body fell limp.

James became conscious a little while later. It seemed he was sitting in the back of a van. Then he heard the man in black speaking into a walkie-talkie. "We have him", he said, "We've got Alex Rider's kid."
