A/N: usual disclaimer, I don't own anything.

Somewhere on Mars a couple of bounty hunters sat at a bar just like any other. The one thing that set these two apart is that they had just lost a partner to his past, and even though they still hadn't let it go, at least they had decided not to wake up the a hangover the next morning. The woman sighed and turned to her partner, "So, you got anything that'll get you killed, because I want to know right now so I can get as far away from you as possible."

"You know, he's the second partner of mine that's gotten killed because of a mistake he made a long time ago?"

"That's it, I'm out of here. So long Jet," she moved to stand up.

"Sit down." He said, not even turning his head.

"Look, if you're going to sit here and sulk then I'm leaving right now."

"Where do you plan on going? Remember, the second you walk out that door is the second you don't have anywhere to hide when those debt collectors come after you."

She thought for a second and decided not to wind up being number three on Jet's list. She walked back to her stool and sat down. "You know this isn't going to work with out him around."

"Since when did you need him for anything?"

"At least he kept things interesting."

"What about me, I'm interesting enough."

She laughed, "Please, about the only thing I'll get out of you is a 'back in my day' speech."

"Hm, I guess you're right."

"Well, this is a new one, you're not even going to put up a fight."

"No reason to, you'll just stop listening the moment I start talking."

"Grrrr…. Damn it Jet, are you just going to sit there and do nothing for the rest of your life?!"

"What do you care if I do?" raising his voice.

"Fine, you know what, I don't care. When you die, say hi to him for me," she stood up again.

"Why don't you say his name?"

"Why don't you?"

There was silence for a few moments, and Faye took the opportunity to sit back down. "What do you think he'd… what do you think Spike would tell us to do right now?"

On the small stage nearby, a piano started playing and a woman sang, the song was Adieu.

They listened for a bit until Jet said, with a small chuckle in his voice, "Something like that."

"Yeah, and like that song goes, 'Won't help at all to worry 'bout it'"

Jet sighed, "Hey, lets get back to the Bebop, any more of this and I won't be able to stand."

"Where we going to go?"

"I hear Earth's nice this time of year."

"Sure, why not." They got up to leave but Jet stopped Faye and asked the bar tender for a couple of Prairie Oysters.

"What're those for?"

"Spike used to drink them all the time for his hangover, and right now, I've got one that just won't go away."

"Ok then, bottoms up?"

"Yeah." They drank, paid their tab, turned and left.
