Rose looked across the vast open space in front of her; an array of fields of gold, blue and green that went on forever. It was like she was stood looking at a painting, like in one of the art gallery's the Doctor had taken her to, and was watching every stroke of the artists brush as it swept across a blank canvas creating something beautiful. Something that would show how only they saw the world.
She shivered as a cool night breeze cut across her and almost as if he'd sensed it a brown suit jacket was placed over her shoulders.
"You must be freezing stood out here." He said making her turn her head away from the field to look at him. She'd not even heard him leave the TARDIS. He stood there wearing his glasses trying to look smart. He almost would if it wasn't for the trainers he wore at the bottom of his suit.
"Just wanted to admire the view once more before we left." She replied with a smile tugging on her lips. "It's beautiful."
That was one of the things the doctor found fascinating about Rose Tyler. She was able to find beauty in everything, able to find hope in everything. Even in the darkest moments.
"It really is isn't it?" He agreed as she held his jacket close to her. Suddenly he noticed her face drop, her eyes seemed to glaze over slightly. "Rose? What is it?"
"Nothing..." She sighed. "It's just so empty...no ones here...they must've been once, there's houses, but they're not here anymore."
"I know." He nodded. "Come here." He opened his arms for her and willingly she stepped forward putting her head in his chest.
"It's a shame no one else back home will ever get to see this..."
"But you do." He reminded her. "And one day they will too, they will explore and reach out...the human race will finally experience the wonders of the universe...you're just special you get to see it first..."
She laughed slightly. "Come on..." She stepped away from him. "I'll put the kettle on and you can tell me about all the wonders you've seen..."
As they entered the TARDIS together he thought how one of his favourite wonders of the universe was right in front of him.
