I'll Always Be There For You
Ok this is a songfic to the song 'I'll Always Be There For You' by Brian McComas. When I heard this song, I knew I had to write a songfic with it. But this is my first ever songfic, so please be open-minded. The text in bold italics is dialogue in the song that's part of the story too. This is told from the point of view of Ron Weasley after he leaves Hogwarts.
Late night call, collect from Arkansas,
I was sitting at home when suddenly my phone rang. Dad had given it to me as a present a couple of years ago. I stared at for a moment, thinking. 'Who do I know uses a Muggle telephone?' I thought. I picked it up to see who it was. It was Ginny.
She said, "Brother, I need your help." She said, "There's this boy," And I could tell by the crack in her voice she was in real trouble and all by herself.
Something was definitely wrong. It must be if she was forced to have to use a Muggle telephone to get ahold of me. "Ginny?" I said tentatively. "What's wrong?" I could tell she was fighting back tears.
She said, "I don't want to be a burden, it's not your problem. Maybe I should just hang up. After all we're years apart and not much in common. And we haven't kept in touch."
For a moment I was stunned. I didn't know what to say. Eventually, I found my voice again.
And I said, "I may have moved away, and I know that on the day I left, I let you down. But you're still my baby sister, so always remember that it's by blood that we are bound. I may be here, but I'll always be there for you."
Then she told me what was wrong. "You know I was going out with Dean Thomas, right?" she said between tears. "Well, we went out one night and, I didn't want to, but he went too fast, and the next thing I know we're on the ground and..." she shuddered to a stop. She didn't seem able to continue, but I understood.
"I know it's bad, but you gotta tell Mom and Dad. You don't have to do this all alone. If I leave right now, I should be there by morning and we can tell them together when I get home. We'll talk and pray and cry a little, we'll work this thing out. We'll do whatever it takes. We'll stand beside you try to guide you, that's what family's about, but it's your decision to make."
So I hurried straight home. Mum and Dad took the news exceptionally well for which I was especially grateful because I didn't think Ginny could handle it if they flew off the handle at her. I knew that the worst wasn't over yet, so I took a leave of absence from work so I could be there for her.
Six months later on a Sunday morning, that baby girl was born and we all stood around the bed. Looking at her in that little pink sleeper, I knew in my heart that she wanted to keep her, but God had a bigger plan instead.
Mum and Dad were sitting on either side of Ginny's bed, trying to convince her it was for the best, that there was already so many people in the house, that she knew they didn't have the money for an extra person, and that she was still so young. In the end, she agreed.
A young couple came and I heard my sister say, "I just wanna give my child the life that she deserves." We all held hands, then she handed her to them, and we all cried as she whispered these words:
"I'll think about you every day, I'm only giving you away 'cause I can't raise you now. I brought you into this world, you'll always be my little girl, it's by blood that we are bound. I may be here, but I'll always be there for you."
I may be here, but I'll always be there for you.
So what did you think? Please read & review and remember it's my first songfic so be gentle.
