Tony's Pov
He sat quietly across from his dad as the young recruiter talked. He almost felt guilty for signing up without telling him. Almost not quiet….. He was 18, had already finish school, and what did his dad care what he did with his life. As the recruiter finished with his speech which his dad was barley listening to, he stood up and looked at both of them. He handed Anthony Dinozzo Sr. the paper work and him, a few papers on things he would need to know before joining the corps. He smiled back at the both of them said his goodbyes and left quietly.
They just stared at each other as they had done many times before. "Well son I'm disappointed in you" He stated in a cynical tone. "Ok good to know; now if you will excuse me I have some studying to do and I do believe you have paper work to attend to." He stood up and walked up the stairs. And almost ran into his room. He walked up to his rather large king sized bed and lay down. He didn't really have to study he looked at the list on his way up to the room and learned that he had already learned it all from when his father put him through military school. He heard a light feather touch knock at the door. He knew it was their maid Rita because he would have heard his father's loud heavy demanding footsteps as soon as he got even ½ way up the stairs. He opened the door and saw the older woman with several papers in her hand. She smiled warmly and handed them. "He's drinking so be careful if you go down. I've convinced him to sign them he said he would but at a price." She said while rolling her eyes. Of course Tony said to himself he can't go any were without making a deal of some sort. "Ok name his price" he thought it would be on the lines like he has to work for him for a year or something. "Once you leave you can never come back, or contact him for anything." He stiffened and sat on his bed. "So this is the final straw he always warned me about NOT pulling" He smiled despite the problem.
He walked down stairs and walked up to his father; he squatted down to eye level and could easily see the hatred in his eyes. "Deal," he said hoping his father wasn't going to try and talk to him. He handed over the papers silently and the man in front of him signed the papers. "Get out of my sight and life you know good worthless piece of trash," his father spat.
He walked back to the recruiter's office and handed him the papers. "Well that was awfully quick," he said quietly. "Well that tends to happen when you father doesn't want anything to do with you," he said softly not meaning the gunny to overhear. But the retired marine heard everything. He frowned at the younger man but said nothing. He gave him the schedule for when he had to meet the bus and what was to expect at basic training. He looked into the man's eyes and saw pain, loss, fear, confusion, and worse of all a large level of self loathing and hatred.
"Thank you gunny," he said quietly. "Call me Gibbs," he said. "Thanks Gibbs," he said before leaving the office. Just by assessing him right there and now he could already tell the man had potential. The marines will strengthen him he said to himself. Yes that young man will grow up to do amazing things he decided. He smiled to himself and started filing his paperwork. "Another job well done Gibbs," he said out loud.
Sooooo… what do you think? R&R!
