What Are Friends For?

Ahsoka and Barriss

She sat in her room studying, alone. Ahsoka hated studying more than anything. She was to used to being in the battlefield, and it was unsettling to her for it to be so quiet. Why did she have to know about the history a Alderaan? Why did she need to know about people from history? Nobody apparently knew except the wise Masters of the Jedi Council. Just as Ahsoka was just about to throw her datapad up against the wall, she got a visitor.

"Hello Ahsoka, good to see that your actually studying for once," said a familiar voice in a cheerful tone.

"I would hardly call it studying, Barriss. I don't understand it," Ahsoka gruffly said.

Barriss gave her a questionable look and sat down across from Ahsoka. "How could not understand the history of planet systems and their people's culture? I mean, each planet has its own customs that might seem confusing to some people, but-," Barriss started to say, but was interrupted.

"Not like that. I meant I don't understand why I need to know this. I should be out on the front lines, battling droids, making a difference! Not in here, wasting time learning about planets!" Ahsoka began to get frustrated.

"Ahsoka, it's a jedi's duty to not only keep the peace, it is to also learn and experience new things that make you wiser with age." Barriss took a pause before continuing. "By learning about the past, you use that information in the present and future to help other people with their problems. And with that, you will be making a difference," Barriss said in a very calm voice.

Ahsoka let her words sink in and calmed down a bit. 'She always knows what to say,' she thought. "So, what you're saying is that by learning about a planet's past and past mistakes makes you wiser and helps you not make the same mistake?"

"Almost," Barriss replied. "It's so you make sure other people don't make the same mistakes. Not only from a planet's or another person's mistakes, but from your own as well."

"That makes sense... but it's still boring," Ahsoka replied.

"Yes, especially the way my master teaches it." Barriss said with a chuckle.

They both laughed at this comment. Ahsoka felt a little relieved now. It helped knowing now that this isn't a complete waste off time. She just needed patience.

"Thanks Barriss," Ahsoka said with the same cheerful mood Barriss had earlier. "I needed that."

"Hey, what are friends for?" Barriss said with a smile. "Now come on, I think you need a break." Ahsoka got up and walked with Barriss to the cafeteria.

Barriss and Ahsoka make such good friends! Anyway, I was hoping to sort of get a message in here, which is even though you are feeling down, your friends will always be there to cheer you up. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend and next chapter of Clone Yourself will be up soon. C'ya!
