For the Drabble Game Challenge, Malec, miracle, for Sophy.

Alec can't help but to feel nervous when Magnus bursts through the door, a broad grin on his lips. His boyfriend is far too easily excited, and, for a moment, Alec worries that he might lose control of his powers and try to destroy the entire block or something.

"I'm old, Alexander," Magnus sighs.

"Are we really going to have the robbing the cradle discussion now?" Alec asks with a roll of his eyes. "We've been together for a while. I know."

Magnus waves a dismissive hand, shushing him. "As I was saying, before I was so rudely interrupted! I'm old. I've lived so many years-"

"That usually comes with getting old, yeah."

Sparks flicker at Magnus' fingertips, and Alec tries his best to look contrite. He wonders if he'll get tired of giving Magnus a hard time. "Sorry."

"If you interrupt me again, you will be sleeping on the couch," his boyfriend warns calmly. "I worked hard on this speech, and you've already ruined its delivery."

Alec nods, grinning as he pantomimes zipping his lips.

"I never had much reason to believe in miracles. When you have lived as long as I have, extraordinary things become quite commonplace. But this! Oh, the mundanes have legalized gay marriage. Now, the Clave is voting to recognize unions between Shadowhunters and Downworlders. What a time to be alive!"

Alec nods, keeping his silence. He wants to urge Magnus to get to the point, but the couch is not nearly as comfortable as his lover's bed.

"But this wasn't the first miracle I witnessed. You came into my life, and you've just sort of stayed. Almost like a stray cat."

Alec scowls.

"Don't worry. Cats aren't as cute as you. Whatever the verdict, Alec, I have a request. I would like you to stay with me. You may speak now."

"Stay with you? Not much of a request since you know I'm yours," Alec points out.

Magnus smiles. "And I would like it to be official. If they vote yes, I would like to marry you. Look! I bought a ring and everything."

He plucks a silver band from his pocket, placing it on Alec's finger. "If they vote no, well… Be mine, regardless."

Alec pulls Magnus in, kissing him. "Do you really have to ask?"

"You'll notice I didn't phrase it as a question," Magnus points out.

"Well, I guess that settles it."
